I was mildly amused to read that Gini is apparently not happy with his lack of playing time at PSG.

Maybe its karma?

Maybe he just isn't as good as he thought?

No its probably more Poch not picking him.

Or maybe he didn’t expect to walk in to a team of superstars. He left for the money pure and simple. I wish people wouldn’t defend players, it’s almost always about money. It’s a transient game and if I was him I might have done the same if I was offered the same. I wish he had stayed but the contract we offered clearly wasn’t long enough or lucrative enough for him. Up to him to force his way into Poch’s plans or move on loan somewhere. Good luck to the guy.

He is not as good as he thinks he is.

Klopp wanted rid or he would have stayed.

I am pretty sure it was the club that didn't offer him a new contract. Not sure where karma comes into it.

They wanted Hendo to stay so Klopp stepped in.

FlyPelicanFly - the club didn't offer the length (or value? ) of contract that Gini wanted.

I agree it was about money (both in terms of weekly wage and/ or length of contract) and I alao agree that I would have probably done the same as him in his shoes.

I just dislike the hypocrisy of moving for money, leaving somewhere he would've played in (probably) 80-90% of games and then complaining about it.

Strikes me as selfish, but of course that's only my view :-)

Don't forget Zed once he knew that he wasn't getting the contract that wanted he spat the dummy as it were.

And he also jumped ship from Barcelona to PSG the minute more money was offered. But again, at his age, I probably would have done the same.

Gini did put in a good few 'big occasion' performances for us. Not just the Barcelona game, but he usually played well against City and Chelsea and was very good in the Athletico game just before lockdown. But week in week out he seemed content to play within himself and deliver 6/ 10 efforts, at best.

He stayed first choice for as long as he did because of his fitness record, not because of his performances. As I've said before, between Ox, Keita and Thiago, there's an argument to be made that Klopp tried to replace him as first choice 3 times.

Terrible player. He hardly played a minute for us in the seasons we won the CL and Premier League. Even his 2 goals against Barcelona don’t really count. Only Origi’s matter that night 🙄😜.

To be fair to Gini he did normally play well v City and we missed him last week.

Not sure if he jumped ship from Barcelona to PSG. Barcelona didn’t have a pot to p##s in. Looking from outside to in it looks more like false promises from Barcelona as their world fell apart quickly after the season ended. They had to take pay cuts just to sign some of the frees.

Gini made a good contribution towards the success of the club in the time he was here. He’s never a superstar or candidate for world player of the year but he ‘put a shift in’ and did what was needed (at least, apparently, in JK’s opinion as he kept putting his name on the team sheer) .

I think he wanted more money from his (probably) last big contract and - put simply- what we were prepared to offer wasn’t good enough, which is just the way in business.

What the preoccupation with him now is I’m not sure. The lad made his choice and as to live by his decision.

As to the idea that Klopp didn’t step in during contract negotiations so he left, he did step in for the Hendo negotiations so Hendo stayed …. we’d better hope that’s just imagination and the usual passing opinion off as fact because we all know JK hasn’t stepped into the contract negotiations for Mo …….

Gini gets a unfair amount of stick on here imo. He was a solid player that was always available and behaved well on and off the field. He helped us win that elusive title and also grabbed a CL cup on the way. Sure, he left the club for reasons that won’t please some on here, but he fulfilled his contract and should go with our blessing. Being glad he is having a tough time at his new club, for me is disappointing to have to hear from fans of this club, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

YNWA at it's finest, eh?
Even funnier those claiming Klopp wanted rid of Gini.

I agree 6 Gold.

Of course Klopp wanted rid he tried to sell him. Do you really think if Klopp wanted him he would of left?

Who do you think makes the decisions at the club Mark? Serious question.

Do you think that JK not getting involved in the contract negotiations with Mo means that JK wants rid? Again a serious question. What role do you imagine that the manager plays in the transfer process into or out of the club?

Gini got what he wanted and if he is struggling then he needs to pull his socks up and work harder rather than poring in the media. No one cares about his time at LFC cos the Parisians couldn’t be stress about any of that. He got his big pay day so he needs to go earn his money in the pitch, period.

This ain’t LFC of last season where he only played as much as he did due to injuries in midfield and defence. Without that, not sure he plays as much as he did which is what has fooled a lot of fans into thinking he was essential due to availability. He was not. Gini made his bed so he should lie in it and tuck himself in nice and tight.

You’ll never walk alone. Well not until you leave the club and then you’re getting slung under the bus disregarding everyone you’ve done for the club in the past.

Gini moved employer like millions of people do daily. Whether he plays week in week out or sits on the bench bares little to no concern for me. But I won’t forget the contribution he gave to the club in us winning the lot. I think he was Klopps most used player in both their times here so no idea what last sessions defensive issue has to do with it.

We sound like a bitter ex.

Probably because he was over rated.
