Okay so 10 games in (I think), what's everyone's thoughts about how we're looking this season and what we'll end up with?

I think we can finish anywhere in the top 3 and maybe end up with a cup but it'll probably depend on other teams dropping points or having poor games as I feel like we're creeping along at either a 7 or 8 out of 10 this season.

The defence doesn't seem as solid which is understandable, I even heard VVD say that he still feels like he's recovering, and the midfield is still finding some stability. Upfront I feel like there is a big dependence on Salah to make things happen and the other 3 or 4 options are grabbing easier goals rather than really making things out of nothing.

Perhaps this is just our steady start to the season and we'll get much better as the season goes on, we're unbeaten which should be seen as a positive.

I know there has been some negative feelings after the City and Brentford games but we're doing okay, let's hope Bobby, TAA, Thiago, and then Konate/ Gomez getting back in the mix helps to raise the bar abit.

Onwards and Upwards. YNWA!

I'll stick with what i said pre-season. We're winning number 7.

There's a reason we are still unbeaten, if Klopp manages the players well then we've every opportunity to win this League.

Thiago will help our midfield a long way. No team in the league looks miles better then us atm despite us having some problems to deal with.

I hope Thiago helps the midfield but it will be ponderous alongside Hendo and Fabs. Elliot is the miss. My opinion is we need an energetic midfielder in January or we will probably fall short. As you say VVD not being at his best certainly isn’t helping.

The Jan window I think could make us. Bissouma coming in will boost the team and make the most suspect part of our team so strong. There will be silverware.

I don’t think we’re quite at the same level as our title winning season for three reasons

1) I think Gini gave us that element of control we still miss in the biggest matches - CJ did very well vs city but still young and clearly there a moments when inexperience shows
2) VVD is not yet at 100% - he’s amazing and probably the best CB in the league even playing at 90% - but not quite at his imperious best yet
3) Mane and Firmino aren’t firing on all cylinders…yes we have Jota now, but our front three were all on fire that year but feels like they’re still playing themselves into form at the moment

Overall I think we have a decent shot at the title. Our team is at least as good as City (if everyone’s fit and on form), and is better than Chelsea’s, but it’ll be very close, and we need Mane and Firmino to get back to their best IMO.

I'll stick to my prediction from the beginning of the season. We will be in serious contention for the title and champions league and very well may win both. One for sure, no doubt. What yesterday proved to me is that if we can get our midfield straightened out, we are the best in the league and Europe. No question in my mind. As bad as our midfield was, we still had a chance to win.

We’ve made a good start so far let’s see how it goes.
We’ve not lost against our title rivals and bar that odd result we’ve won against the rest.
See where we are at Xmas, can Chelsea and Man City show the level of consistency needed to win the league? Can we?
I always said we have the best team and arguably the best squad so if we have some luck with injuries then it’s ours to lose.

We were way off it in the first half. Second half was better but still really naive at times. Midfield setup and performances didn't work in our favour at all. Wont blame CJ as he's inexperienced. Hendo was always in no-mans land and constantly lost the ball. And Fab was getting overrun by City. Milly did his best but not helped out by his team mates at all. Robbo was average at best. Virg and Matip seemed a bit slow and ponderous at times. Mane and Salah were excellent. Alisson was good too - apart from maybe one kick. Jota did ok in parts. Could have done a bit more but he wasn't bad.

Overall I think we've done well so far without tearing up trees. There's definitely a few more gears in terms of performance level - which can only be seen as a good thing during this stop-start stage of the season. Usually we step up performance levels after the third international break (ridiculous intl schedule btw) .

Mane seems to finding a bit of confidence and Salah seems to be on a mission to have a record breaking season. The rest have more to do. Boss and coaches included.

I am a tad concerned at this new role that Henderson seems to be occupying. It's leaving our back line very exposed. I am also not a fan of the Trent's coming inside development either. Perhaps there is a place for it in some games but it's certainly made us look disjointed at times so far.

Watford up next. Wont be easy with a new manager bounce expected. Then Atletico and a trip to Old Trafford. This international break can't be over quick enough.

The best squad? I love and support all our players but you cannot compare the chelsea/ city and even Utd squad depth to ours in terms of seasoned pros and international superstars.

I think it would be hard for Klopp to justify spending big money on Bissouma after the emergence of Elliot.
Unless he can ship off Kieta.

I think we get 2nd-3rd this year, don't think we have the legs for the whole season, and I just don't think you can compete with City over the whole season. Injuries are still too impactful. Must admit City have a crazy squad, though i think Chelsea if they lose a few defenders to injury could be vulnerable like we were last year

Maybe if Minamo or Ox get some time and become challengers for the 1st team will we have a solid shot
I'm hopeful for a cup at least.

We'll win the league.

04 Oct 2021 15:02:18
DeanW isn't it same with City? If they lose Dias then the game is over for them despite spending a billion in their defense.

Every team has their own problems, think Klopp needs to use our squad players abit more like he did in the beginning of the season and they didn't disappoint us intemns of results.

With you Salah but I also dream of icing the cake with no.7😍.

The way we are able to score this seems like a year we can win the CL or a cup.
The defense is no where near a title. Everytime opposition has a go it seems they will score.
I think vvd needs rest and gomez, konate need to start.

It seems more of a midfield issue don’t you think Akira?

17.) 04 Oct 2021
04 Oct 2021 17:11:27
Spot on mark seems Akira hasn't watch our matches.

It's more of a midfield problem then defense, it happens against teams who are willing to press us, or play with intensity like Brentford and City. Our midfield atm just can't cope with opposition player's press intensity and pace.

Think in the summer we need to bring a dynamic midfield who is going to add physical presence in the middle of the Park.

{Ed0666's Note - or the midfielders could play to their potential and we’ll win trophies

18.) 04 Oct 2021
04 Oct 2021 17:11:29
I'm cautiously optimistic. I liked giving up 1 goal in the first 5 matches. If they can get back to that and maintain it, I like their chances.

19.) 04 Oct 2021
04 Oct 2021 17:26:10
Fabs and Hendo could both hit form and we won’t have these issues. It’s only 10 games in so we have to live in hope Kopforever. Jones needs those type of games to learn from.

20.) 04 Oct 2021

Yes Ed66 mate I don't think a lot of teams can play like city or Brentford, so we have every chance of winning the league this season neither City or Chelsea are out of the sight atm.

Think it's important to bring one or two Midfield in the summer coz the likes of Hendo etc at the age they're its just going to get difficult playing every match and with Milner leaving it's imperative we bring one or two mate.

I Know a lot of posters here don't like talking Abt Wijnaldum but we already miss he's Physical presence in the middle of the park. Don't think anyone can shield the ball like him tho.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m not sure about Gini but for me Elliot and Thiago are bigger misses than Gini who blew hot and cold.
