Many would argue that Liverpool not signing a striker could come back to bite us but same could be said for City, Chelsea too look light up front if Lukaku picked up an injury. Man Utd' failure to sign a DM could come to bite them as well. Nobody has the perfect squad. We have 2 players who have scored 20 Premier league goals in a season, the only team with more than one, City do not have one such player. We also have the best defence in the league if not the world. Let's enjoy the best Liverpool squad in a while and not forget that our rivals too have weaknesses.

I'm glad another person has said this.

Chelsea's top scorers in the league last season:

1. Jorginho: 7 goals (all penalties) in 28 games
2. Mason Mount: 6 goals in 36 games
3. Tammy Abraham: 6 goals in 35 games
4. Timo Werner: 6 goals in 22 games
5. Kurt Zouma: 5 goals in 24 games
6. Christian Pulisic: 4 goals 28 games

So their top goal scorer was their defensive midfielder who takes penalties.

They have also sold Tammy Abraham and don't have a back up goal scorer for Lukaku.

But yet this lack of goals aside from Lukaku is less worrying than Mane and Firmino having an off year.

Again, not necessarily a criticism of Chelsea, but it shows that everyone has gone hard on the kool-aid.

Good points, but it doesn't really matter how many goals a player scores if your team wins every game. By your logic (which I'm not criticising) we should've destroyed Chelsea and we were tredding water. Losing a 20 goal a season player (eg to AFCON or injury) can sometimes be more detrimental to a team, than a team of players who equally score and win games.

Who cares about Chelsea?

Most of us support Liverpool and if we play consistently to the best of our ability we will win the league.

We will have players getting injured and some losing form - that happens to all teams (when we won the League City had Laporte out with injury for most of the season which stuffed their defence up and KDB was out for a while iirc.

Let’s leave the others to do what they do and just concentrate on supporting the team.

Just as an aside, for me, Bobby is the only regular starter currently out injured and he will apparently not miss that many matches. And the thing about Jota playing four games in a week …. Let the club determine if he should be playing against Leeds - we have a whole medical department paid to make these kind of judgements.

Gandalf, as you know, you need to score goals to win games. My point is that based on last season, there isn't many goals in this Chelsea team without Lukaku. People can question where our goals can come from if Salah is injured and Mane has another crap season, but that question should be aimed at Chelsea too.

West Derby, don't really get where you're coming from, whomever Liverpool fans focus on in an internet forum isn't going to make any difference to Liverpool's season. Chelsea and co. are our direct rivals and are also interesting to talk about.

Rainbow Jeremy,

I agree Chelsea and City and lots of others are interesting to talk about - so much so that they have their own banter pages, or am I missing something?

I am talking about Chelsea and City in relation to Liverpool. I don't know how that is lost on you.
