League is going to be interesting, so much negativity from some of our supporters we've got a settled experienced team and more than enough depth to cover all but the most severe injuries. If luck stays equal Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, man united in that order for this season. We have a great squad!

Consensus among supporters was pretty positive til the Chelsea game, certainly compared to how pundits and outsiders were rating our chances. Then we had the audacity to draw a football match to a really good team, then one of our rivals had the cheek to sign a really good player and then Adama Traore ran about a bit so now we need to bin the whole team and sign him. Properly embarrassing stuff. Can’t wait for the transfer window to end and all the children to go back to school so we don’t have to listen to any more of this rubbish and can just talk about the footie.

{Ed025's Note - im with you AW..

Give over mate. we have a decent squad but lacking upfront.
I'd say top 4 is doable but I'm guessing we'll be 4th. Man United and Chelsea have both passed us now I think.
4th is realistic.

AW our squad is very decent but unfortunately ox and keita can't stay fit, minamino while not writing him off, looks to light weight. Origi looks like he left his football ability on the pitch in Madrid, our squad certainly needed some surgery, we've a first 11 to match anyone our cover isn't up to much the last few seasons when needed, a lot of people said this well before the Chelsea game. So try not generalise people's opinions.

Thats where i sit Magico, i think its very possible we could challenge but can't help but think a proper striker would have been a great addition, it is what it is now.

It wasn’t the draw that was the problem it was that 6 players forgot to turn up. It’s very early and we can only improve.

Manchester United have passed us? Is that a joke? They were dreadful against Wolves.

Man United have passed us😭😭 they’ve stacked up in the area of the pitch they were already strong in, yet they still have an inconsistent defence and goalkeeper and their central midfield is virtually non-existent. Oh and they’re managed by a nicey nice unqualified PE teacher yes man who never demands anything from his players other than ‘go out and have fun’.

On the other hand we have probably the strongest starting XI in the league and for my money the best manager in the world. Yet more benign whiney nonsense that begins to unravel if you choose to apply your brain for even a few seconds.

Port Red i’m not generalising at all and i agree with most of what you say, i do still think we are a proper centre mid and forward short of a perfect squad, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world if we can’t get that. Bissouma is a lot of money and i’ve asked a thousand times for anyone to suggest who this unicorn forward may be but nobody can give an answer. I’d rather we kept our powder dry than go out and sign Traore and Sanches.

Nobody is asking people to bury their heads in the sand and proclaim Liverpool will cake walk every competition under the sun, but the intensity and toxicity of the whinging after the Chelsea game has been utterly embarrassing. If you stop to think about the objective quality and positioning of each team going into the new season then we are right up there as firm favourites. Man City haven’t even got a centre forward and United may as well not have a manager but i’m meant to believe we’re a hundred miles off winning the league despite our starting XI being the best in the land imo. I don’t see either of those sets of supporters crying to this extent.

The reality is it’s all about shiny new toys and money for some fans and if their team spends less than another team then they lose all rationality and objectivity. The Ronaldo transfer has made all the man-children feel jealous and emasculated and so they need to take to the internet to put forward their visions of the alternate reality they live in, and the good regular posters of this page have to sit and listen to this waffle while batting away accusations of being ‘Top Reds’ and ‘FSG sleeper agents’ simply because they have better emotional maturity than a toddler and a higher brain cell count than an amoeba. It’s exhausting and i for one can’t wait to just get back to talking footie again.

Spot on, AW regarding your first post. It seems people’s reaction is fluid depending innige day if the week and the result. We won two in a row vs teams we were supposed to beat and vs Chelsea, that game could have still gone either way even with the red card and without it, it could have as well. They are a more than formidable side BUT how dare we draw with a formidable side, according to some?

As for our chances, I think we have as good a chance as either City or Chelsea cos City don’t even have a striker while for me, Tuchel will have to prove that he can mount a title challenge in the PL, something we haven’t seen and winning the CL doesn’t mean you can do that. Ask Rafa Benitez cos it took him 3 yrs to do that.

As for the guy who said Utd has passed us, that is comedy gold. I would invite the poster to watch both their games vs Saints and esp Wolves where they were absolutely abysmal and with better finishing from Wolves, they get battered 4-0 and there would have been another protest for Ole to be sacked.

Anonymous woolyback, you're in for a very disappointing season. Top 4 and maybe a quarter final in the champions league that'll be about it. Saying that maybe that will do you, so maybe you won't be disappointed.

AW - why are fans children for wanting to healthily strengthen the squad. Given our woeful form last year there is legitimate cause for concern. I feel we need an attacking midfielder to contribute with goals, what’s wrong with that.
