Is it me? Or do we have 2 of the best full backs at crossing the ball in the Premier league?, so why don't we actually have a target man to aim for in the box? Also a guy who can hold the ball up intelligently .
Whats the point of the same thing every season relying on same method of attacking it becomes predictable, could we not mix it up as we spam balls in the box relentlessly with 4 guys up front under 5ft 10inches.

I am not an expert but surely a striker who can feed of excellent delivery and bring others into play would be extremely beneficial especially against low block teams, because no doubt about it at anfield that will be the blueprint for opponents.

I totally agree

We have 1 way of playing and it’s very sad to see
Yes we won the league an the European cup
So then … add a target man and work on a plan b
Which then adds to the existing talent to move forward

I honestly don’t understand the overall plan when it come To the squad

It reminds me of wenger - very stubborn to change and adapt.

Chelsea literally followed the Atletico gameplan. Score early and stick as many men behind the ball as possible and look to hit on the break, which we had no answer to. At times they had 7 defenders in and around the box. I imagine a lot of teams are going to try that now as it does work against us and we don’t seem to have an answer.

VVVV teams have been doing that from the day Athletico figured us out. It’s nothing new, that’s where the slight decline began. Not every team has the players, discipline or the concentration to do it, but when they get it right it’s impossible for us to break them down. We could still be playing now vs Chelsea and it would be 1-1.

Its not a case of who we should buy rather planning should of been put in place earlier in the season to identify these sort of players to make the team stronger .
Closest thing we have to a target man is origi but we don't play him, when he plays he is on the wing obviously better to get rid but its all been left too late .

Andy Carroll is knocking around on a free. Give him a crate of beer a week and it sorted.

I thought until the 70th minute we were moving them around so relentlessly that we would have unlocked the door sooner or later. And then we dropped the tempo.

I think the squad is yet to mentally overcome the trauma of the dip we experienced at home last season. We will overcome it sooner or later. It only takes a moment of magic for Mane, Bobby, Salah or Trent to create something so I wouldn't be very worried. So let's not look to change things - we just need to go back being the mentality monsters and keep going at it with intensity until the opponent gives up.

VVVV, Atletico Madrid media disagree with you. After that game, their papers called their victory against us “Gloria” meaning Miracle in Spanish. They themselves couldn’t believe how they survived that game cos we created so many chances to win that we missed. It had nothing to do with their defensive shape. Your comparison holds NO credibility based on the facts. Also, a lot of big teams suffer from this as well BUT you don’t win as many points as we have if we struggle with low blocks as you think we do. It is just a trope, IMO.

That said n regarding Chelsea yesterday, sure we did not play well enuff to win and Chelsea who are even better than Atletico in this regard, had a lot to do with that. Also, I think we lacked a bit of pace in our movement which could have helped a bit more. That could be down to us not fully fit yet as this game may have come too early. I don’t know.

People talking like just having a tall CF in there would make a diff. Not sure that is totally true cos Chelsea have the CB’s tall enuff to deal with such things like they showed in the CL last season. Also, Our strikers apart from Salah, are very good in the air so there’s that hence, I have no problem with mixing things up on the ground and in the air.

Complaining about having 1 way to play yet we actually don't lol Chelsea ultimately parked the bus yesterday with 9 men in the box most of the time what else could we do? Even with crouch in the team we'd have struggled just one of those days.

{Ed025's Note - come on joe you know better than that, first half chelsea were as good if not better than liverpool and the sending off changed the whole dynamic, what did you expect chelsea to do go all gung-ho to appease the reds fans?, the sense of entitlement from some of you fans is incredible mate..

Ed25, it’s not self entitlement. It’s called watching the games without your eyes being wide shut. Chelsea played with 8 defensive players out of 11. Had Newcastle did that, we would say they parked the bus. So why can we not say that for Chelsea? The fact that Burnley played a more open style than put Allisson under more pressure in that first half than Chelsea did in this first half, tells you all you need to know about Chelsea’s smash and grab strategy. And I’m fine with that strategy cos that is what they need to do. It is up to us to work it out.

Secondly and as I have said many times, we did not play well enuff to win and got the result our perf deserved, plain and simple. That said, were Chelsea better? I don’t think so even tho, they are a VERY good team. The two big chances in the before their goal were ours by Hendo and Elliott. I agree after their goal, we were a bit ropey and in shock and they tried to take advantage BUT apart from the Mount chance, nothing. So again, how were they better or even just as good when they are playing a defensive formation?

We got back into the game and after pressuring them, the dam broke and Mane scores until James scooped it out with his arm and got the pen. The red card was the correct decision as well or did you prefer he didn’t apply the laws to please you? In the end, it was an even game and I don’t think they were better. We just didn’t do enuff to win. Just my opinion.

{Ed025's Note - it was a stonewall pen which i have said all along oli so i dont know what your getting at there, it was two very good teams who played out a good game even if the sending off did spoil it a bit, liverpool were the better side overall but before the sending off chelsea gave as good as they got imo..
