Question for Ed001, do you think Bob Paisley would have been as successful as he was if Bill Shankley hadn't come first.

{Ed001's Note - hard to say. Paisley was a large part of Shanks' success, but he also learnt a lot from the way Shanks' did things. I would think it probably did help him, but I do think he would have been a success, either way. It is just that he was taking over a better team than he would have been if he had took over before Shanks.}

Absolutely brilliant article on a truly brilliant man. Thanks Ed001 that was a really insightful article on Bob, really appreciate the effort you put into these. Your appreciation for the man comes through in your writing.

{Ed001's Note - thank you Jeraldo, I am glad it does. Paisley is, imo, the greatest of all time.}

Imagine signing Kenny Dalglish, Alan Hansen and Graeme Souness in one season.
I don’t think you could find a modern day equivalent to signing a spine of a team that made so much difference and achieved so much. I know Klopp signed Salah, VVD and Alisson within a year or so but even that doesn’t come within a million miles.

Two excellent articles on the greatest manager we ever had, Ed. Luckily I’m old enough to remember him and his teams. A true genius. And while not being disrespectful to Jack Charlton but still can’t believe the FAI’s decision not to appoint his as Ireland manager. What would he have achieved with that group of players? Thanks for the really good reads Ed.

{Ed001's Note - I have often wondered that, but then again, maybe Jack was what they needed at the time.}
