I have a feeling that all resources will be focussed on acquiring a new midfielder and then use Minamino, Jota and Elliott to support the front three.

I'm convinced there is a good player in Taki, just needs some gametime. We know how lethal Jota can be and Elliott's has talent to spare.

Ed002 says we should utilise the current squad more as we are cash strapped, so it could be the best solution for the club this season.

However, I am concerned about the long term, if this sell to buy policy is now here to stay? Yes the owners have previously invested heavily into players, some of which haven't worked out, however it's a concern to me that wiithin 4 years we wre CL finalists, CL winners, PL runners up and PL winners yet we still lack resources to invest in the squad.

Well you said he would be used as support but also said he needs game time. I struggle to see where he gets that time barring an injury. I am with you that Minamino is a decent player and could really flourish. But I just don’t see how he gets time here. Especially with Elliot continuing on his current trajectory.

Without C.V. our finances would have been fine the loss of income to us and FSG as a collective has been huge, we are not the play thing of a billionaire so cannot simply absorb such losses and continue to spend we have to be careful and allow time to recover. We could not possibly anticipate or plan for such an event the timing is just typical unfortunately as we prep to capitalise on such form.

If we focussed the resources into getting a top drawer midfielder like Saul or Bissouma and didn’t buy a forward that would be ok. I’d think that between Firmino, Jota, Elliott, Minamino and even Ox (there’s been talk about using him through the middle like Firmino, which is just crazy enough to work as he has a hammer of a shot) would suffice, getting midfield right is critical as it is critical to how we function as a team.
