ENG's march is on!

They will be out in the quarters, scouse not English.

2.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 19:17:49
Not going to lie, the route to the final is as easy as it will ever be at an international tournament. Sweden/ Ukraine in the Quarters and then Denmark/ Czech in the Semis.

The final is most certainly obtainable. However, England are bottle jobs so will likely crumble before then.

3.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 19:24:53
Hahaha will see mighty.

4.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 19:26:52
ENgland will never get a better chance but Sweden, Ukraine and the others will also think it’ll be their best chance to reach a final.

One game at a time but let’s enjoy the hype, it’s coming home!

5.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 19:40:37
I hope they do well and they didn't bottle it tonight, which will give them massive confidence. Never understood this "scouse not english" thing. All those Scouser that played for England over the years certainly didn't feel like that. Anyway, I will be cheering them on in the absence of my own beloved nation 😢.

6.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 19:55:35
Spot on Irish Rover neither I'm English.

7.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 19:56:32
Irish Rover mate, England destroyed Sturridge career will never forgive them for that, and there are plenty more factors, I see England mainly for the little club fans like Lincoln City, can't quite workout whu kopforecer is getting excited it alwaysenda up in tears, the nationalistic is also another thing I hate ten German bombers and all that, I don't think proper Liverpool fans care about England.

8.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 20:10:57
'Proper liverpool fans' 😂 so if you want England to do well that diminishes how much of a liverpool fan you are? What a load of tosh!

9.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 20:11:14
Why wouldn't any proper LFC fan support ENG when our Club legends have played for ENG? From Philip Thompson to Hendo. Some of our Greats have played for Eng.

{Ed014's Note - he just sounds bitter to me mate

10.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 20:20:18
I despise the English national team for the following reasons:
1- Way too many Man Utd players, even 1 is too many
2- Reminds me of Gary and Phil Neville playing together, revolting
3- Beckham, complete N** Jockey
4- Scholes = Never quite as good as Stevie G
5- John Terry= Complete turd of a human being and his momma does Dallas.

11.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 20:21:23
Your wrong on this mighty we should all get behind our national team and the "proper" fans im sure will support their country just as much as their clubs.

12.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 20:34:49
I'm a proper Liverpool fan. I care about England.

I'm not jingoistic, nor am I xenophobic nor do I sing political chants at football matches.

Am I annoyed when our players get injured playing for England, especially in friendlies? Of course I am!

Does that mean I don't support my national side? No.

You're entitled to your views about your national side (whether that is England or whoever) just as I am mine.

However, please don't make stupid statements like " I don't think proper Liverpool fans care about England".

13.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 20:38:13
Hendo changed the game when he came on.

14.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 21:06:39
Ed014, Sounds like the same rubbish we here from some of the parole in Catalonians when Barcelona players play for Spain and do well. The bitterness seems heavy on this one.

{Ed014's Note - very much so mate

15.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 21:07:50
While I'm not going to comment on whether one should support one's national team or not, it's interesting to see the futile attempts of those who don't support the national team try to suppress the voices of those who do, by saying things like "I don't think proper Liverpool fans care about England". So you don't support the national team. You don't support freedom of voice either. What do you actually stand for? Comical.

England played well enough against an uncharacteristic, weak German side. Victory well deserved. And history will remember it. That's all that counts.

16.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 21:47:50
You’d be in a minority in your home country irish rover cheering on England. Make sure no one hears you.

17.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 21:53:41
Best chance for many years. Don’t forget home advantage every game too.

18.) 29 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 21:59:05
Sweden and Ukraine are pretty poor, England got an easy 1/ 4 final draw.

What annoys me about England are the neanderthal, anthem and knee-take booing "fans". A shower of S*n-reading, right-wing, Brexiteer gob-rubbish tossers.

19.) 30 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 22:06:56
Easy route to the final? I think we all said that on here a few months ago for the champions league. Just get past Real Madrid and it’s plain sailing lol
That match was bloody boring, both teams played awful.

20.) 30 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 22:25:49
Willo I don't agree with the booing, but I also disagree with a political Marxist movement being celebrated in sports. it's just more division when we should be uniting against these sickos ruining the world.

21.) 30 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 22:34:28
I normally want England to do well but I wanted us to go out in the groups so that clown would get sacked. All the hype tonight because we beat probably the worse German team in my life time. This England squad is one of the best squads compared to all the other countries in but We won’t win it with Southgate in charge god knows how he got the job in the first place.

22.) 30 Jun 2021
29 Jun 2021 22:37:44
Completely agree with you there Willo_the_wisp.

Most of the Liverpool supporters i know including my close circle of mates aren’t bothered about England, but they’d never be so silly as to say that if you enjoy watching England you aren’t a proper Liverpool supporter. That is just bitter and tribal and a childish display of gatekeeping.

It’s a personal decision and everybody i know respects that. I loved watching England at tournaments for years, even up to the 2018 World Cup. While i still watch them and want them to do well when all is said and done, i’m not really fussed whether they win or lose. In fact, i relish the losing because it always takes place in the same ridiculous manner and i love watching all those who take it really seriously lose their heads, aghast and how it has somehow all gone wrong again, even when the writing has been on the wall way before the tournament.

I think this is the same for many people. Everyone loves those summers watching England as a kid. At some point, you grow up. You see the world, you travel further afield. You meet other football fans from all around the country, mainly those from down South. You see not only how different they are to you, and that not only do their values and culture not correlate with yours, but that a lot of them actually detest you. They sing songs of German Bombers and brand you as a Bin Dipper, and many of their attitudes on both football and the world at large are both toxic and obnoxious. You realise you have nothing in common with these people. The illusion of a nation united, rallying behind a talented bunch of plucky bunch of rogues, is shattered.

You become alienated, desensitised, in some cases even resentful. You read your history, you get a greater understanding of what Liverpool means, what its been through, what it stands for. Many United and Newcastle fans feel the same. Eventually England just begins to feel like one big London club. Your own players are ridiculed, abused and disrespected by the same fans who are loathed by the entire international community, and rightly so. A quick glance at the crowd of any other nation at a tournament and you will see people of all ages, genders, sexualities (presumedly) and ethnicities, families enjoying themselves in the stands, all coming together for a bit of good natured footballing fun. You then compare them to the England fans and it’s a completely different kettle of fish, the arrogance and obnoxious undertones shining through. This is not an accepting environment for the average citizen; it is a cult onto itself.

These sentiments are very commonplace and honestly, i’m a lot happier for having had these enlightening experiences outside of Liverpool. I appreciate and love my home, my mates, my city and my club more than ever, i am proud of where i come from. There is nowhere else like it and it really is its own separate entity in a lot of ways. That is where my identity and pride lies; not with England. And you know what, that’s okay. It means i don’t have to sit there pretending that a rendition of ‘God Save The Queen’ fills me with pride as opposed to a cringe inducing dread that makes my toes curl. It means i don’t have to watch an awful football team managed by whatever absolute helmet they have got to manage them this time around and pulling my hair out over something that is so detached from the average fan, something that there is so little you can do to influence, something where nothing will convince them to listen to reason and common sense. England constantly make decisions as if they are trying to fail, as if they are trying to wind up the public. England have such a good squad this year and honestly, i like so many of the players i’d rather they did well and played some good footie, but it isn’t going to happen. I’m glad that i don’t have to stress about any of this, and i’m glad i don’t have to support that sociopathic, classless waistcoat wally.

But you know what, if you do want to support that, if you do choose to care about England, if you cheer their goals and if the thought of them winning the Euro’s brings a tear to your eye, then that’s okay too. It doesn’t make you any less of a Liverpool fan than the rest of us, and it doesn’t make those of us who are apathetic to England any better than you either. We can all support in our own different ways and such mutual respect goes a long way. If we don’t have that, then we are no better than the xenophobic, hooliganistic, Queen worshipping England Crusaders that we claim to have so little in common with.

YNWA.

My view on being a red and English is this. I would much rather see Liverpool win the carabao cup than England win the World Cup if given the choice.

Hey, Rover stop calling yourself Irish because

{Ed0666's Note - There is no room for bigotry and bile on this site. I’m giving you a month long this time because I want to use you as an example and a warning to others. I repeat anyone wants to be a bigot they will get banned for life. We are a soccer website not a political one.

Hah its always fun to see england win and i don't think a semis against danes would be that easy.
Also it seems the final would be against belgium/ italy. So there is a lot of work to be done.
Let's be honest germany were poor.

27.) 30 Jun 2021
30 Jun 2021 06:21:36
To be honest. I'm not bothered what other people think Irish or not or whatever else you want to call yourself.
I think for myself, I'm not guided by a majority rule or what I read in a paper or by a politician. I make my own judgements. I sit really comfortable in the choices and decisions I make.
Have a nice day Kloopboom and Greg red 👍👍.

Born just outside Liverpool, supported Scotland all my life mainly because of Dalglish Hansen Souness and Robertson. c'mon Ukraine.

I think my reluctance with England is because of the way the Conservative government of the 80’s treated the city (I know you said no politics ed0666, but please indulge me on this! ), read up ‘managed decline’ in relation to Thatcher’s thoughts on how the people and city of Liverpool should be treated.

She, and her party, had (and the Tory’s still do have btw) nothing but contempt for the city and it’s people, so to my mind that creates a disconnect between the city of Liverpool and the rest of the country because they sought to inflict a policy like that.

And considering Boris Johnson’s thoughts on Liverpool, it just evidences a truth that it is deeply held contempt in their party.

Additionally, on the whole, England supporters tend to Sun reading flag sh*gging racist brexiteer Tory’s and I wouldn’t cross the street to spit on one of those if they were on fire.

Although, having said that, I’d be happy for Jordan Henderson if he ended up lifting the trophy over Harry Kane as it would annoy so many people.

{Ed0666's Note - sorry mate I didn’t mean no politics I meant bigoted politics. Politics is fair game in here if it’s in context. We just don’t tolerate any fascism, sectarianism, prejudice etc. we need to keep tgat in the pubs and living rooms and out of here. Yes I agree wholeheartedly with you about the Thatcherite policies and I touch upon this on my reply to Burkeyboy

1 thing I enjoy about international tournaments is the lack of emotional involvement. I don't care who wins. I'd like Spain to because I have them in the sweep but aside from that I'm just enjoying it. I don't see any need for anybody to feel bad or have to justify why they do or don't want England to win it.
