Wudnt be against Lamptey, good little player. just moving Trent to midfield. Think rightback is one position we don't have to worry about this summer.

I don't think it would happen but think sounds a good idea. Lamptey is a good player and having Trent able to move into midfield with Wijnaldum gone would be nice.

Lamptey looks injury prone and i'm not even convinced he's that much better than Neco Williams. He gets to play in a back 5 so he has a lot less defensive responsibility than a right back in our system. I'd steer well clear at least until it's more clear how robust he is and even then i'd rather Neco as the back up to Trent. Trent is the best right back in the world so i'm in no rush to move him even if he could play midfield to the same level.

The day I trust Southgate and his choice of players is the day I stop watching football. nowadays you don't even have to pretend to have managed any decent club to be given a go. trent has his distractors and people go one about James, walker, trippier but I've never seen any come close to the positive things he has done from right back. He will be better for this long term. the best players always go through some set backs learn and come back stronger.
