Ed025, since you've been around since the formation of both Everton and Liverpool, I have a question for you please. What happened to the "friendly rivalry"? Why is there so much hatred between the sides now? I think I've seen you write on here before that back in the day fans from both sides would go to the match together, go to their respective sides and cheer for their club and then go home without much of a fuss other than some friendly banter. Do you see a way back, or is that gone forever?

i remember a time when they sat mixed in the stands and didn't get the trouble, its now a problem for the teams being a more global fanbase that have no real links to the city, thus not really being related to the fans around them.

Ahhh the good old days traveling together to Wembley for the Fa Cup finals.
Traveling back home red half happy blue half sad.
Fa Cup coverage on TV far better than today.

I'd Hazard a guess that social media has a big part to play in the increased (unwanted) rivalry. Because of social media there's no escape from the banter and fans can take it too far being protected behind a screen and false profile.

Well, I guess I'm old because I have nothing but respect for Everton and wish them well except for the matches against the reds. I love the competitiveness between the sides, but hate the bitterness. Very sad.
