Hopefully Trents injury isn’t bad but you’d imagine he won’t make the euros now anyway. Not arsed about England but feel for Trent himself. We could do with brining in another experienced right back to rest Trent the odd game (played every game since coming back from injury in december) without having to shoehorn Milner or Gomez in there when so much of our play goes through full backs. Williams needs a loan or realistically if he ever wants to start games probably have to move on. I think Bradley looks good but again nowhere near ready. Hysaj from Napoli is available on a free.

Stick with Williams, showing plenty of potential. If we hadve just spent money on needless squad players instead of sticking by Trent when he was struggling a couple of years ago we wouldn't have the best rightback in the world now.

{Ed001's Note - and Konate and Milner can provide cover. Gomez too when he returns to fitness.}

I feel for Trent. I felt last night all eyes were on him waiting for him to make a mistake so all the 'experts' could say "see, he's rubbish" when he is clearly the best RB in the PL and right up there globally. He then gets injured and will likely miss the tournament. Also, I don't agree with the comments saying it's a good thing. This is a young lad who's probably dreamy of representing his country at a major tournament since he was a kid and is likely devastated by what's happened and that, added with all the additional selection pressure, has probably had a huge effect on him mentally.
I hope he takes the time to rest not just his body, but also his mind, he's earned it.

I really don't get why people don't trust Neco.

I think Neco is a good enough back up his only just turned 20, He just needs to start putting the ball in earlier he seems to take a touch when it is not needed. Surely his red card from last night will be cancelled and hopefully he gets a good run with Wales and they get through the groups.

It’s not I don’t trust Neco - I think he has lots of potential. It’s just Trent is arguably our most important player creativity wise so if he’s out for a long period of time to drop off to Neco would have a massive impact on the team and we would more than likely have to change the way we play.

Nope. You have to stick with the backup and go through it until he proves he's not got enough or won't make it. Otherwise, what's the point of appointing players as token names on the bench during games? Williams has to be given his chance. Just like Tsimikas or any other backup.

Well yeah joshkel91 you’ve kind of answered your own question. Trent is irreplaceable so why bother spending money on a player who also isn’t as good as him, particularly if we do trust Neco to step up as you say. It’s futile, wasteful and wishful and thus solutions must be found from within the squad.

Yep AW, totally understand your point. Could definitely be viewed as a waste of money although if we bought in a quality RB to cover you could argue they would get about 20 games a season in cups etc and give Trent a rest when needed. Possibly more if he sustained an injury.

Would also give Trent a chance to play a few games in midfield which I would love to see him to. Think he could play the Hendo role quite easily but also would add a lot more goals from midfield. Would love him to get more shooting opportunities in similar positions like vs West Ham.

All however boils down to how good the club think Neco is. If he is going to be trusted for 15 - 20 games a season then great but if not then I think send him out on loan to get experience and decide on him at a later date.
No point him sitting on the bench like Tsimi all season even though he’s available.

Neco might turn out alright, but he won’t without games, and he’s not going to get them here, when he has gotten them I don’t think he’s even looked great but that’s the thing you can’t expect a young player to come in for the odd game and look good he’d need a run that he won’t get. Trent was awful around Christmas and still played like every game. If Trent was like 32 sure he could slowly take over, but I don’t think 2 young right backs will work it’s not like midfield you can rotate each game. If we loan him out we’ve no proper cover. Good offer comes in i’d take it like we did with Hoever/ Brewster last summer.
