Im going to throw a name out, it won’t happen but interested in thoughts. Shaqiri leaves then ideally we need a a replacement who who’s premier league proven, happy not to play every game but is good enough to be relied upon and can make a difference off the bench, won’t get in the way of Elliott, serial winner and homegrown as a bonus.

Gareth Bale

Wages would be the big problem but i think for 2 years while Elliott gets another loan or they share the spot he’d be brilliant. Scored more than all our players bar Salah and hardy played himself. He’s been one of my favourite players for a decade I’ve always dreamed of having him for us, he’s not what he was but clearly still a top player.

WILL get in the way of Elliott. Elliott is ready to come back now to replace Shaqiri so why stick a 32 year old in the way of him?

How do you think we can afford £500,000/ 600,000 or whatever ridiculous amount in wages it is when our next earner is on no more than £200,000? Also don't you think that we be catastrophic for team morale to have such a massive difference for some newcomer?

A serial winner? Someone who was happy to sit on Real's bench for so long as he was collecting his wages. Winners don't get preoccupied with golf as much as him. Instead they spend their spare time on the training ground and in the gym, making those marginal improvements to get to the very best. His attitude absolutely stinks. He is not a team player and is very immature for his age. There is no way Klopp would want someone like that around.

It's an absolute non-starter.

Why would you want a player who hates the club, the fans and the city?

God no. I can’t think of a worse fit. You do realise that Bale’s idea of working hard is playing the full 18 holes instead of 9? Appalling professional who blows hot and old on the pitch and is rarely fit. Surely April 1st has come and gone?

I’ll take that as a no then. I still think we need an extra forward assuming Origi, Wilson, Shaq and Minamino all leave and that’s with Elliott staying. Whatever you think about Bale you can’t deny he’s a serial winner. He’s probably won more than our club in the last 30 years and scored plenty of huge goals. The wages would always big the biggest problem for me he’d need a huge pay cut. Was never going to happen anyway. I’d be lying if i said i think the likes of Malen, Vlahovic or Daka strike me as the level we need one bit. Put it this way Aguero is leaving and there’s no suggestion City want any of them. If Sancho is available I’d go for him as a long term Mane replacement and let Salah play through the middle. I reckon summer 2022 we could see Mane and Firmino leave.

{Ed001's Note - how is that Bale being a serial winner and not that Bale plays for Real Madrid who win things despite having a lazy golfer on the staff who occasionally turns up for a game of football?}

The club that gives Bale his next contract will be absolute idiots because he has been lazy and disinterested for years and it’s only going to get worse.

Real Madrid hadn’t won a CL in 12 year until Bale showed up. Then won 4 in 5 years with him scoring winners in 2 (that first goal vs us is the best i’ve ever seen us concede) and setting up their only goal in another then scoring in the shootout. They had 1 Spanish cup in 21 years until Bale showed up and scored that winner in the final vs Barca. He won 2 league titles too. He set up the goal to win their first super cup in 12 years. 2 years later set up a winner in the super cup again. Scored in the semi and the final of their first ever Club world cup win and scored 4 more as they won 3 more. Prime Bale is right up there with the best British players of all time. The man won a trophy with Tottenham, that might be his best achievement of the lot!

{Ed001's Note - you do realise it is a team game and that Bale did not win anything on his own? No matter how ludicrous the stats are that you are reaching for. All they show is that investing huge amounts of money eventually paid off.}

Bale would be a disaster (even if he didn’t hate the club) . His work ethic is the exact opposite of everything this club represents, and would completely undermine the message we send through the leadership group of Hendo, Milner etc…. let Elliot come in and learn his trade under Mane, Jota, Firmino and Salah, just like Man City did with Foden.

We could also do with one more forward IMO to replace Origi, but again an up and coming player would make more sense than another older player at the end of their career like Bale.

One of the best British players of all time? That's the funniest thing I have read on these pages, and it's the end of the month and I've read a lot thus far. That's a slap on the face of every British player who put in time and hard effort to grind out his play on the field for sometimes 10% of Bale's pay. Absolutely ludicrous. Talent? Yes, you can argue that. Getting it done. Absolutely nowhere.

Bale hates the club and fans and has openly said so, so that’s a 1st no. He is lazy and disinterested in the game in general so that 2 no’s. He is injured for large chunks of every season which would be unacceptable on the wages he would demand so that’s 3 no’s. For the above reasons he wouldn’t be worth a spot on the bench, wouldn’t be worth displacing any of the current front 4 (despite a drop in form from some of them) so that’s 4 and 5 no’s. On pure talent alone if he was top of his game and consistently available, yes of course, but it just doesn’t stack up.

31, injury prone, huge wage demands, lost his pace, hates the club and supporters? No thanks.

OP, Bale hates the club and it's fans which actually include you. What other thoughts or opinions are you looking for?
