Not Liverpool related I know. But what a stupid decision to move the CL final to Porto. Is it really that hard to move it to London, Birmingham or Manchester where am sure we would be allowed some fans in!

Absolutely shocking decision not to have the final in England, there is an argument that both these teams have an international fan base but with the limited numbers and I would have hoped UEFA did one for the local fans considering the exploits of the recent ESL, very disappointing and I think UEFA have missed a chance to get some credit from true Man City and Chelsea fans.

I heard it was due to UEFA's delegation/ sponsors not receiving exemptions to the UK's restrictions. so they would need to isolate etc.

Yep, read the same as WYred. The way I understood it, some of the UEFA 'VIPs' were planning to attend directly from non-green list countries and the UK government would not make any exceptions to the quarantine arrangements required.

I heard similar Zeddicus and I actually agree with government on this TBH, which is unusual for me.

Dreadfully short-sighted by UEFA and they wonder why clubs come up with breakaway league ideas.

In addition to what others have said, perhaps they felt holding it in the UK may encourage local supporters to congregate around the stadium?

I doubt that was in their thinking Fornax, all the noise in the press seems to be about not allowing all the UEFA entourage in to the country.

{Ed002's Note - The issue was simple. The UK were not willing to grant any "elite sport" exemptions to UEFA staff (there are not many) and all Champions League sponsors attending.}

It’s yet another example that football does not belong to the fans. The first thought in this situation should be of the fans travelling to the game but instead UEFA are too busy lining their pockets with high powered ‘delegates’ and sponsors and their needs come first.
What I want to know is where’s the G Nev and Carra rant? UEFA taking the game away from the fans etc etc? The hypocrisy is ridiculous they are all just in it for themselves and don’t give a toss about the fans at all as long as their own interests are being looked after.
