Hi Ed002,

Hope you are good.

I would like your opinion on future transfers at Liverpool. I know you inundated with these questions but please bare with me.

Will it be conceivable to buy a player like Sancho without selling the front 3? I ask this because should Liverpool sell the likes of Adrian, Davies, Grujic, Wilson, Ojo, Shaq, Woodburn and Origi, would this not free up salary space for a top signing provided that we don't over value these players potentially up for sale? T

My thinking that there also should 'nt be an issue of game time because of the upcoming Olympics and Afcon which possibly involves Takumi, Salah and Mane.

This will also give time to prepare for the eventual sale of the 1 if not 2 of the front 3 in the near future.

{Ed002's Note - Well Adrian is going and will need replacing. Liverpool are not paying the full salaries of loanees but there will be sufficient to pay an addition well enough. The issue is in the transfer fees and accumulated debt - it gives FFP issues and means the club is not able to sustain itself.}

Even if we're to lose Mane for example, I'd still be more inclined to go for a Neto or Harvey Barnes over Sancho.
Makes no sense to spend everything we are getting from player sales on simply one player (Sancho) .
Our squad needs at least 4 new additions, not just one or two luxury players.

{Ed0666's Note - Sancho is not for me either mate. There’s much better and cheaper players out there. I truly hope klopp doesent satiate his penchant for Adama or Sancho

And this is why football is great as it’s a game of opinions. I think Sancho would be an astonishing signing for us. His numbers are off the chart for someone so young. I think his game intelligence is really good as well. Do t know much about his personality or background so there could I guess be an issue that I’m unaware of 👍.

Over the past few weeks, I have changed my opinion from thinking we should sell Mane to thinking we should keep hold of him for a further year. I think the old front 3 deserve one final season. I just don't think there are that many good prospects for wingers who are available and make financial sense.

Having Jota gives us another option if Mane and Firmino's form continues to be patchy. Instead of buying a new winger, we should use Elliott to give him more game time. Then to replace Origi, I really love the look of Hlozek. He is so versatile, he's capable of providing an aerial threat in the box and he can also play on the wings as well as deeper. He looks like someone we could mould into Firmino's successor as well as having some other tricks up his sleeve. And, for a bonus, if Glatzel can finally put his injury issues behind him then he can be another exciting option up front.

That would give us seven options to cover three positions which should be more than enough.

Rufusthered, this is the last transfer window for us to sell one of our front 3 for a decent sum coz of their contract situations. All 3 have only two years left on their contract. I'd give Salah a new 4 year contract, sell Mane this summer and Bobby next summer.
No more sentimentality. Time to get ruthless.

Indian Buzzer, the issue is how much would we get for them and who would be interested. The only one of the front three I think we would get a decent amount for is Salah and he is our main goal scorer. It is not worth the money we would get to sell him as we would have to sign someone to replace him. The market and Mane and Firmino's age mean that we probably won't get that much for those two.

I think at this point it would be more cost effective to try to coax them back to form and use their abilities on the field for our cause. At the same time, we could initiate their eventual replacement by integrating the likes of Jota, Elliott and, in my proposal, Hlozek more. Because you can't just buy a player and expect them to be a ready made replacement. It doesn't work like that, they need time to adapt to the system and develop themselves.

From a financial perspective, no sentimentality as you put it, if Mane and Firmino are assets for the club, then if we sell them this summer we will get less than they are truly worth for them. So we might as well use them so their skills contribute to us rather than another team benefitting from signing them at a cut price deal. The advantage of this is we can control the succession process for them on our own terms and in an organic way. Although they will lose their value as they see out their contracts with us, their successors' values will increase as they develop and become more regular members of the team.

Agreed, there are cheaper options out there. But if it’s a choice between ones we supposedly have an interest in i. e Adama, Dembele, Sarr or Sancho. I choose Sancho as I believe out of the four he has a higher ceiling. Sadly we don’t have an interest in Saka 😢.

I agree Raphinia is a very good player but he is yet another who is far from a natural finisher. Someone we buy has to be able to actually put the ball in the back of the net.
