Could it be a possible factor that all our 'strikers' have turned into 'stinkers' this season that they are not up against VVD, Gomez, Matip etc in training every day?

It is the more the effect losing those players has had on our style of play.
We are still making chances, but just not in the same way.

With VVD and Gomez fit Fabinho plays in CM and covers Trent and Robbo.
Henderson wins the ball back higher up the pitch and we break quicker, with more width and there are a few extra yards for Mane/ Salah to pick their spot.

Now our build up play is slower and teams get behind the ball. Even with one of Gomez or VVD fit we would be fine.

It is a mighty achievement given the situation that we are even challenging for top 4.

Morning Andy, while I agree with some of your points I can’t grasp the mighty achievement part. We are behind West Ham for goodness sake. We lost 6 games in a row at home, even to Fulham. We have been shocking this season and people are using too many excuses.

I know we’ve said Bobby has been effected most by no fans but his stats this season are very similar to last season and we only played 8 games with no fans. This isn’t to knock Bobby as a lot of our players have been well below the standard we are used to seeing. I just think giving our favourite players that excuse is a cop out. Bobby himself and even Klopp have said he’s struggled and we all know so has Mane. The only difference is we are trying to ship Mane out the door without a mention of no fans for him.

Over the last 2 seasons

Firmino 96 games 18 goals 21 assists

Mane 91 games. 36 goals 19 assists

Salah 52 goals 18 assists.

Mane has had a shocker no doubt but there were signs yesterday with his movement that he is still very capable. I would much rather keep Mane if he wants to stay.
