A lot of new noise of the Breakaway League today. Liverpool are one of the clubs, could’ve sworn on here we apparently wasn’t in the conversation.
I was usually against the idea, but I feel like with football slowly dying due to corona, VAR and all this money going around. A change might be needed somewhere.
The Question is will it revive the sport, or kill it off?

{Ed002's Note - Rather than having a dig at me perhaps you should of read the posts there have been - this is not coming from the "elite" clubs (which don't include Liverpool) but from one of the other options, all of which have been explained. Cretin.}

I’ve never read that LFC where not in for the break away league!

All I’ve read is was Ed told us years ago that this was been talked about so fair play 02 ( I told some mates about it long ago and I robbed your credit 🤣)

I was reading the new champs league format 20024 my god it’s absolute tripe!

{Ed002's Note - It is the "elite" group of sides that does not include Liverpool. Liverpool has been involved in other discussions about options available (and even proposed project Big Foot with Manchester United a little over a year ago).

I don't understand what you mean by elite clubs!
From what i've read, liverpool, man utd, barca, real, and juve.
Are they not "elite" clubs?

Is the any other sports that follow a similar proposed structure Ed? I’m thinking of how basketball works in the US?

{Ed002's Note - American professional sport sits above college sports which are all but professional in many cases. Other sperts and leagues need occasional restructuring to address issues - professional football in England has too many professional sides hence you get clubs going bust. The timing with the pandemic is not good and the "elite" sides have been requested to meet this week by one club and will do so once they fully understand the UEFA changes to the plans already agreed for 2024 (which look pretty simple). Some clubs want an automatic entry to the Champions League and other benefits. UEFA will want to talk with the "elite" sides, and perhaps FIFA will aswell, so we will see what happens there - obviously some of the clubs are the same.}

Its a name given to the clubs involved, maybe even by themselves. Clearly it doesn't involve all the "elite" clubs tho. I wouldn't get hung up in the title they give themselves.

The impression I get is they want an NFL/ NBA system wherein no risk of relegation or missing out on European football. Quite sad really and shows where football is at these days. To be fair Ed02 has kept up posted on this for years.

{Ed002's Note - That is only the real desire of a couple of clubs - perhaps three. The "elite" sides will meet this week which will be interesting - but firts they will want to know the final details from UEFA and how the vote goes tomorrow. Being thrown out of domestic leagues will be used as leverage by the authorities to stop any small solutions like the latest being proposed going ahead.Their big concern is the "elite" clubs coming up with a grand plan - and I think they will now be open to wider discussions but certainly not with the full ECA.}

I see. It all sounds quite messy. Thanks for your time Ed.
