How many scapegoats do you want? There is not a player who has not been pulled to bits or blamed for whatever reason all season. For me they just look really tired. A big part of that is down to missing hendo imo. Our game has slowed right down, in klopp s first couple of seasons you could see him screaming if players took more than a couple of touches (lallana with his turns) eradicated, but that seams to have crept back in players dithering shows mental tiredness too. The amount of stray passes we probably have more of them in any game than we had in the whole of last season ( pre lockdown) plus different coaching staff the return of Lijinders etc. This team has won everything, frightened other teams into spending billions ( city must of spent a billion on defenders alone) if I was offered the highs of the last four seasons and then have to endure this season again I would bite your hand off. SJ agree about the scapegoating but it’s the easy option to take in this current world in every walk of life.

Nothing against Hendo as he is a terrific captain but I don’t see how him being on the pitch would make us look less tired. Hendo played in midfield in the terrible draws against Wba and Newcastle at the start of this decline. He then played in the defeats against Saints, Brighton, City l, Leicester and Everton. Yes he was at centre back but his leadership was still on the pitch.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying these games were Hendo’s fault but I also don’t think it’s as simple saying that Hendo on his own would have made a massive difference.
We have been poor this season as a whole team and for us to get back to where we were it requires more or less every player in that squad to up their game. Not just assume once Hendo or Vvd come back it will all be fine again.

Agree with JK, getting Hendo back is not going to miraculously improve the shooting boots of Mane and Bobby, plus we signed a much superior player in Thiago and we are where we are today. We need a massive clear cut in the summer and some new faces need to come in. A huge upgrade in midfield and a proper goalscorer up top. Our backups are simply not good enough.

We are missing a Raul jiminez type of striker imo. Yes haaland would be perfect but you can't order champagne on a ribena budget. Hendo in that team yesterday wouldn't make a difference, we created so many chances but no end product.

Speaking of Thiago, Ed commented he's not being used correctly. what's his position and can we play w him in the team? I'm far from convinced by him as is Klopp it would seem with his lack of starts.

{Ed001's Note - of course we can play with him in the team, we have done very well too. He is a playmaker, you put him in the centre and build around him.}

Park him just in front of Fab in a 4-2-3-1? i think Bayern did something similar last season. Is there room for him and Bobby in the same team w the way Bobby drops off or do we need a traditional 9?

{Ed077's Note - you mean like Thiago and Muller did for Bayern?}

Ha. Doesn't RL play as a traditional 9? I'm just asking how he fits in here. I don't claim (and i'm sure it's apparent! ) to be a tactician. Again i've been massively disappointed w him. Thought he'd take us to another level. Hasn't happened.

{Ed077's Note - RL? Do you mean Romelu Lukaku??}

I was actually referring to Ralf Little. Think he's the missing link.

{Ed001's Note - he's not a bad player to be fair. Can be one lazy get at times though!}

True. But some hidden potential for sure. Will he accept 2 pints of lager and a bag of cheese and onion in lieu of compensation?
