Any news on where or if Gini is going?

I probably am in the minority but I think he is a great footballer who keeps the ball beautifully and would love him to stay. I know he has had a couple of poor games where he goes missing but one of my favourites I suppose 🤷🏿‍♂️

🤙.

{Ed077's Note - Barcelona seems the most likely right now, but things can change..

He won’t be staying at Liverpool, Klopp has decided he doesn’t want him. Gini at least stayed fit you can’t say that about any of the 8 who are left.

Klopp doesn’t half pick Gini a lot considering he doesn’t want him.

Klopps kind of had to pick Gini a lot, fab and Hendo have been putting shifts in defence, Thiago has been injured, Jones is still a kid and the less said about Kieta the better. Gini has at least been fit and available all season, about his only redeemable feature this season. He’s been played a lot because we have had little choice to.

Cheers Ed, appreciate it. They seem to have been linked all along but the longer things go with nothing agreed on the more you think they don’t want him or have other priorities. Have read they have financial problems but they obviously will look to strengthen or it wouldn’t be popular in Catalonia!

I don’t know if it is a case of Klopp not wanting him, he plays nearly every week and has captained us this season, it seems more that if everyone was there he wouldn’t start (thinking fab, Thiago and hendo ideal 3) I kind of guessed when we got Thiago that Gini is the odd one out especially with Curtis coming through.

Not knowing him obviously, he doesn’t seem the type like Coutinho or Suarez to agitate for a move, does he want to go? Or is it more of a case that he is exploring options?

🤙.

{Ed077's Note - Barcelona need to generate a lot of funds and probably need to shed some wages off the books first, before adding more. And they still need clarity in a lot of fields.

Mikey you may be right but I believe Wiji is the most selected outfield player in Klopps whole time as manager here. That surely can’t be down to injuries. I don’t think Wiji is as good or as important to us as Fab and Hendo but he has very Much been a mainstay in that Title and CL winning team. I see lots of people say Origi won us the CL but everyone seems to forget Wiji’s two goals against Barcelona also. For me Wijnaldum when he does leave he can leave with his head held high. He doesn’t float everyone’s boats but he also doesn’t get the respect and appreciation he deserves.

Gini has suffered with the midfield been torn apart and him having to fill in at DM for a lot of games with Thiago and Jones in front of him. He’s basically playing in a role that doesn’t suit him with 2 players who don’t even know their own roles so he’s been very isolated.
He’s also played a lot of games so is probably tired. We allow Robbo that excuse so why not Gini?
He’s easy to criticise right now because he hasn’t signed a contract but he has been consistently available when called upon and I believe has done his best in a difficult situation.
If he goes I wish him all the best but if he stays we are keeping a solid player and a great professional.

Gini has to be the most used midfield player over several seasons not just this one.

I'd love to see him and the club come to a compromise.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m pretty sure he’ll be playing in Italy next season
