Eds 001 For me Henderson is the greatest captain we've had, he leads by example on and off the pitch. As an ambassador for the football club he has been magnificent, his attitude is 2nd to no one. Even in his dark days he doesn't react to criticism just focuses on improving. Souness was the best winner we've had he was ruthless.

For me Matt Busby was our greatest captain; the way he mentored a certain young Geordie lad and led our team in difficult times. If it wasn't for WW2 he'd have been with us for longer than he was. I get incandescent with rage when so-called fans sing about Munich because it shows such ignorance on two levels.

However I'd agree that Henderson is up there, on and off the field he's an inspiration.

Ed001 I can’t wait to get him back in that midfield he is going to be so hard to replace when his time is up. For me am not sure how much longer Milner has got at the club as a player but I would love Robertson to take over as vice captain next season but I think if it is time it will be Virgil but Robertson reminds me of Henderson very vocal and angry in the right way on the pitch and I think it would add something to his game.

All of Souness’ team mates still seem in awe of the guy.
I love Henderson too, I can remember being at games in Kenny’s second spell and Hendo was far from universally liked by the Liverpool crowd, put it that way.
Some people respond to certain others and Henderson and Klopp have that close connection and bond.
The fact we’re having this discussion is tribute to Klopp and his entire back room staff, there seems to be a lot of very talented people in there.

Henderson has really come on leaps and bounds and is a great player in this team but honestly best ever captain is going a bit far. He is fortunate to have be working with the best Liverpool team in 30 years and best Liverpool manager in 30 years.
Gerrard carried a rubbishty Liverpool team for 10+ years. Add him into this team and we would be winning trebles. Ability, desire, he had it all. I genuinely can’t believe sometimes how overlooked he is on this site.
