Lfc seems to have a knack for signing injury prone players, Ox, Keita, Matip etc. no to mention yester year Kewell, now we are linked with Konate which is seemingly injured a lot 🤔 just hope we make smarter choices when it comes to players in this regard. One of the best quality is availability.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Keita wasnt that injury prone when he was at RBL.

{Ed077's Note - wasnt when you agreed the move. Maybe him becoming a big time Charlie might have affected his commitment and thus fitness?}

I think the only previous injury prone players we have signed are Ox and Sturridge in recent years. Matip, Kieta and even Kewell all had decent to good appearance records over the seasons prior to coming. Hendo has missed parts of seasons since signing for us but he’s not regarded as injury prone. The fact that Konate has been injured recently will be of a concern and no doubts Klopp and the medical team will do their homework and will give a thorough medical if we do actually attempt to sign him. At the moment it’s all just speculation.

OP, neither Keita nor Matip had any injury issues before we signed them so not sure where that came from. Also, Matip had said years ago that the PL was a very punishing league physically after his first season which ironically, was one of the only two seasons he has completed at LFC, I think. As for Knonate, Konate is just 21 and has been playing for RBL since he was 18 so it is normal for him to have some injury issues as his body is still developing.

Also as far as I know, Konate has only had one serious injury (a muscle fibre tear, I think) which is tough to bear but again he is still a kid and his body is still developing. I would not call the Gomez nor Konate injury prone cos they suffer either contact/ freak injuries (Gomez) or freak injuries/ accidents (Konate and his muscle tear) . Now Matip, Ox, Keita and Studge? IMO, They are injury prone cos they keep getting niggles and knocks constantly. Just my take.

Perhaps our training is more intense and therefore exposes players to increased stress?

correct me if i am wrong, but wasnt Stevie G also injury prone at that age do to him physically developing? If so he didn't do too bad for us.

Spot on, GrinchRed. I think certain people on SM just use the whole "injury-prone" schtick without even know what that means nor without context.

Do people really believe that being injured and being a 'Big Time Charlie' are related?
Nothing to do with the physicality of the game in this country, the crap refereeing and the intensity of playing for a Klopp team?
I agree with the wanting to see more out of him for the money than we have done so far, but it could just be the physicality is too much for him.

{Ed077's Note - if you don't work hard in training and don't maintain fitness then it becomes harder to deal with the physicality and pace of the game that you allude to IMO.
