Seriously lads I thought were top heavy in midfield with players but looking at what we have and the way some of them played tonight we could easily do with buying 2 decent new ones to replace the invisibleman and paperman. There is no way this team going forward can have either Gini ( Barcelona bound hopefully) or Keita in its midfield 3. Milly gives everything he has to offer but like everything age and pace are taking their toll. I do think Thiago will be a decent player for us provided Hendo and Fabs are there to cover his a## and give him the position to play because he can't tackle. We need at least 2 more quality midfielders who will put themselves about not play hide and go seek oh and humble pie must be eaten I thought Ox playing through the centre was very good maybe we've found a new position for him because we need something different to change things around. Well done the back 4 and Fabs good solid performance only negative for me is I thought Alisonn was very nervy and sloppy at times but a wins a win maybe this will start to build confidence within the team something that's been lacking for sometime now.

I mean obviously i was probably the biggest advocate of signing Thiago in the summer, but he was atrocious tonight. Gini was equally as bad. I really don't know what Curtis Jones did to go from starting to not even getting on the pitch ahead of Thiago, Gini, Keita, Milner and Ox.

{Ed0666's Note - world class players also need time to adjust and assimilate. Thierry Henry wasn’t super duper when he first signed and look what happened there.

Wijnaldum was so invisible that it was clearly visible for every one to see. And while Thiago may not be adept at tackling, he shows far more aggression going at people than Wijnaldum who seems to be just strolling around.

I see Kabak continuing to improve. He passed the Traore test pretty much okay, even though it has to be said that Traore manages to hit dead ends on his own rather well. Hernandez up front for them in peak form, would have been a different story.

{Ed0666's Note - I was gini’s biggest fan up to a few months ago but he can do one now. Lovely guy by all accounts but his work rate has taken a profound decline.

It’s weird how you only want to keep Thiago from that midfield tonight when he was by far the worst of all the midfielders. He just has no game intelligence whatsoever.
Constantly charging around seeing everything way too late then committing himself, leaving him in no man’s land and putting the team under pressure.
He played some decent passes tonight closely followed by some awful ones. His first touch was none existent and his tackling was a little improved but because his positioning is so bad he always ends up having to foul.
I am of the opinion that we should give him next season with a full team around him as I think his attributes will be better realised when we are not so nervy and we aren’t having to worry so much about what the opposition are doing against us. For now though he’s bordering on a liability.
Gini is going and although he’s not performing to his absolute best he’s nowhere near as bad as the press he’s getting. He’s leaving though so people will slate him so they can say we won’t miss him when he goes. Human nature.
Now Keita is finally fit we should all get behind him and who knows he could just turn into the player we all hoped he would be.
Jones is young and is doing what young players do. Great one week, rubbish the next. He will be a good players for us for years to come though and it’s gone unnoticed that during this poor run he’s gaining valuable experience. Maybe a positive to come from all this.
I agree that Ox looked more like his old self when coming on tonight. Long may that continue.
The whole thing is held together by Fabinho at the base of the midfield. Once again he showed tonight that the biggest mistake this season was moving him back to CB.

{Ed0666's Note - that team needs a mini rebuild. Defenders need to be purchased midfielders need to go and be replaced and we need a forward to assist Bobby.

I think Thiago’s tackling has always been part of his game. He always tries to leave a bit on the player and handed out instant retribution on Neves, I think, when he fouled Mane deliberately. We have been crying out for a player who stands up for the team and now we have one we moan he cannot tackle.
His passing was poor last night, by his high standards but Mane’s finishing was worse. He needs to start putting his chances away but otherwise he was our most dangerous player until late on.
Gini was awful.
Robertson and Trent getting back to 2019/ 20 form. Man I wish I had their energy!
Phillips and Kabak were solid and seem to be growing each game. Thank goodness and well done lads.
Fabinho broke play up but his passing was abysmal.
Salah’s worst game for a while, couldn’t cope with the 5 man defence, constantly tried to do too much.
None of the subs set the world on fire but did their job.
Alisson had a weird game. Flapped at one, punched a couple nervously but then everything else stick to his gloves like glue. No better sweeper keeper in the game, so reassuring for our CBs. Kept a clean sheet.

I agree with MK, both Thiago and Gini were horrible tonight. Thiago was fortunate to not get 2 yellow cards at least and his passing was horrible. Gini was anonymous most of the game. Awful performance by both of them.

Whilst Gini wasn’t great tonight I do think people should try to remember that he has been an ever present for Liverpool and just looked absolutely exhausted tonight. He is the one player who has not had a rest all season.

I agree with MKS regarding Gini and Thiago. They were poor last night. We need a rebuild but not as big as people esp those in the media, are suggesting. We need A CB, 2 mids and a forward and with Taki and Elliott coming back, we will have to see what happens there.

Right Oli I think it’s a refresh rather than a rebuild. Just a few players to freshen things up and give us some fresh impetus.

Champs2020, Gino rests for at least 45 minutes every match.
