It’s just a contrast in effort in Europe. 5-0 wouldn’t have flattered us. I was very confident of the win were a different animal in the champions league.
The RBL mistakes in the first game shadowed a very determined performance. Smashed them both legs they couldn’t build many attacks because we were fighting for everything. Compare that with the Chelsea game and it’s chalk n cheese effort wise.

In the prem we keep facing two banks of four across the edge of the penalty box, or even a four and a five, and that had been the problem - working out how to break through those parked buses. And then we get caught on the break, in part because we don’t have a settled defence. In Europe we don’t face that, and certainly not from a team who have to score goals themselves or go out of the competition.

Great to see Fab back where he should be, and very good performances from Nat and Thiago, not to mention a great team effort all round. A ray of sunshine through the grey.

Chelsea didn’t play 2 banks of 4 last week and we were just as poor. I think Fab is getting all the plaudits which is great but I think Jota was also great last night. His touch and lay off and then run through the middle to then set Salah up for the first was top class. Many fans say Mane and Salah wouldn’t score without Bobby and no other player in world football can do what Bobby does. But Bobby couldn’t have done what Jota did last night for that first goal.

JK, Chelsea played very, very deep in that game. They had almost everyone bar Werner behind the ball and looked to ping it over the top.
That's the same with all the other teams we've played recently and we haven't found an answer for it.
The key is probably patience. The longer the game goes on at 0-0 the more the opposition will come at us (ie in the final 10-15 mins) and we can take our chances.
