I thought the discussion about having a banner for rashford was pretty interesting.

I can see perspectives for both sides of that discussion.

On the one hand, you don't want a visiting player to feel too welcome because then the fear of the ground is gone.

On the other, I do think rashford deserves some recognition for his efforts.

Other things to consider is that players from both clubs are always doing charity work that benefits a great number of people. I've never seen any united banners praising Liverpool and it's players for what they do for alder hey hospital (a hospital which treats cancer in children) a very worthy cause and the club and it's players have been responsibly for helping facilitate tens of millions of pounds in private funding for the hospital.

I'm sure there's an equivalent for united too, because most clubs do lots of charity work. They just don't crow about it much because it tends to make people think it's all been done as a tax write off and publicity.

I think giving rashford a mention in the match programme, maybe the cover. The echo could do this as well. And perhaps the players could do a symbolic gesture on the pitch similar to the knee? All of those I think are perfectly good ways to give the man recognition. But at the same time why aren't we giving recognition to all the other acts of charity? And trust me there are lots from every club and for some very good causes.

Anyway that's my two cents.

{Ed0666's Note - I think we should present him with a dinner lady outfit at the start of the game and make him wear it for 90 minutes on top of his man Utd kit. No seriously the guy deserves every plaudits he can get. I think when we get crowds back at Anfield the whole stadium could give him a round off applause in acknowledgement of his Herculean efforts.

Mention him in the match day programme. Leave it there. This is a derby game (you know what I mean), he needs to focus on football, so do we.

I’m with ed666 when the crowds are allowed back he will get a standing ovation I assume he will at most stadiums.

Ed, you are probably right. I kbow i might be small minded but i could not clap him when he is wearing a wrag with that mufc badge.

If i met him outside the ground then yes, top bloke doing untold good.

{Ed0666's Note - I really can see you’re point mate. But sometimes we’ve got to take the moral high ground even if it does mean being civil to those rosters down the M62.
