As much as we want to thrash the mancs on sunday, I hope we pay some respect to Marcus Rashford by putting something on the kop, I am sure there are many families that have benefited from his great work across Merseyside and the uk in general, then soon as the whistle blows we beat of course we want to beat him.

Rashford has done a great job MR, there’s no denying that.

But to display a banner on the Kop? Not having that mate.

15 Jan 2021 19:31:17
Give the guy a full mention in the local press, programe, fanzine etc but a banner on the Kop, never.

Somebody posted on here a few week's ago about singing a song for Rashford and well that idea was well short down. Mention him on social media or in the paper cause the lad had done a brilliant job.

4.) 15 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 20:11:53
Drogie why not? Why can't you separate football hatred for what's happening in life now?

5.) 15 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 20:27:05
It’s not just about me Mighty Reds, there will be no banners on the kop with regards to Rashford
I’ve been going the game since the early 80’s mate and there is a lot of history between the two clubs both good and bad - Munich, Hillsborough.

It is what it is mate.

{Ed025's Note - it can change though drogie and this is the perfect chance to start the healing process, mind you im not holding my breath mate..

6.) 15 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 20:22:41
What's wrong with a tongue in cheek banner say thanks for all your work now we want to hammer you, absolutely nothing wrong in that.

7.) 15 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 20:29:59
Done well no doubt. Mane has done so much for the underprivileged, mostly from his own pocket that maybe he might get a banner in the Stratford end. 🤔.

8.) 15 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 20:38:55
Donate the lad a liverpool shirt with his name on the back, that should get in his head before the game.

All jokes aside the lads done well for what he stands for, personally a donation from the club to the effort before the game should be enough. On the pitch for 90 mins that goes out the window as its 11 v 11.

9.) 15 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 21:14:40
A Utd player with a banner on the kop? Not a chance! I applaud him for what he’s done but that’s just not necessary. The Kop is and always has been a place where we go to worship our own team. Let’s leave the admiration for other team’s players to other avenues outside the stadium.

10.) 15 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 21:37:05
Friendships etc end when u step on the pitch!
Rashfords name hung on the kop give over!
I’ve great respect for the lad what he’s done out side football but that’s where it stays outside!
I’ve seen some awful banners hung by the mancs on the terraces and us likewise!
Massive no from me!
But thanks Marcus nonetheless.

Ed 25, good evening mate.

You won’t find such a banner on either the kop or the Gwladys Street end. And for me, I wouldn’t want to see it. I’d be more than happy to shake Rashford’s hand and tell him what an amazing and bloody brilliant job he’s done . But.

For those that remember, the Merseyside rivalry was put aside during the battle of Everton valley and it would be the same today.

Probably not a comments you’d not want to hear from me 25 mate but.

{Ed025's Note - very surprising i must say drogie, are you really that bitter about another team or city?, there has always been massive rivalry between teams and none more so than everton and liverpool, yet when hillsborough happened it brought the city together to the extent that there were blue scarves on the kop and red scarves in the gwladys street, now i know this is different and times have certainly changed since then but it was something that brought people together and put footballing rivalry to one side.
what marcus rashford has done for the poor and hungry children in this country has been nothing short of magnificent, a common goal we all should share and surely that trancends any football rivalry, maybe im being a bit steve naive here mate but i thought differences may have been put aside for once and we could show the world we are not all neanderthals....but i guess im wrong..

12.) 15 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 21:48:34
Jay so surely it's time to bury the hatchet and be above them, the vile chants about Munich and Hillsborough and Hysel is sick, the times we are in, it's time to be sound not a fool, surely people can put there hate to side until the game starts, let's be men.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely MR, respect to you mate..

13.) 15 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 21:57:43
Generous round of applause for him. Not so sure about a song etc. But I’d be disappointed if he was ever booed at Anfield as he’s a working class hero and deserves our respect.

14.) 15 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 22:10:29
Mighty red I get what your saying! This matter what rashford has done is outside football! So leave it there! Nobody is taking anything from the lad and what he’s done it’s amazing and not one LFC fan or scouser would deny that! But leave it out side the stadium!
If u want to thank him make a donation etc it’s just where I stand pal!

{Ed025's Note - but would it hurt so much to put a banner up saying " thank you marcus rashford for all your great work, the kop and people of liverpool salute you" or something like that jay?, no need to mention united, or wishing there team well mate, just common courtesy is that too much to ask?....mind you this is LFC we are talking about so im probably banging my head against a brick wall..

15.) 15 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 22:19:25
What wrong with a cheeky banner thanking him but telling him we want to beat him, around the Hillsborough verdicts and that the football world was very generous, we can't always take without giving.

16.) 16 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 22:43:20
There’s a banner up at Goodison then of him is there Ed25? Must have missed that one. Practice what you preach. Not wanting a banner of a Utd player up on the Kop is not a Neanderthal approach. Politics stays out of football and always should.

{Ed025's Note - our tribute was on the big screen WM, its 2021 mate and you are still talking about banners at anfield..

17.) 16 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 22:58:23
Ed25, the red and blue of Merseyside is different we’re from the same households I hate r kid but I’d fight you for him. Rashford is one of us in the fact he is from rough council estate etc. He gets the respect he deserves from everyone ( except tories) he is a special human being and Liverpool supporters acknowledge and praise that! Let’s have it right he’s only doing what he and all of us should be doing. You having a dig saying banging your head cos it’s Liverpool supporters ( not putting a banner on the kop, which I agree with) is the bitter evertonian in you! Utd have been your first team for past 20 years. I’m game for banter but that is just rabble rousing. No banner on the kop!

{Ed025's Note - im far fom a rabble rouser john i just dont get the bitterness, mind you it takes a lot to surprise me these days...you must be very proud..

18.) 16 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 23:04:15
I do enjoy that Rashford has embarrassed the Conservative and Unionist Party, but he's hardly the only footballer to engage in charitable activities.

As someone said, has Mane gotten banners or visible appreciation from the Old Trafford faithful for his charitable work? Or from any club? How about Bellamy? I'm sure there's plenty more that we can add to that list.

He's a good lad Rashford, but I'll pass on the banner.

{Ed025's Note - how very magnanamous of you SR, your reputation as a club preceeds you mate..

19.) 16 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 23:42:13
You can't really compare the two scenarios. Hillsborough was football related, though I do t think we need to go down that route. Yes, what Rashford has done is very good, but as others have pointed out there is a lot worse happening around the world and plenty of other footballers have donated money and time to causes and it never gets celebrated. Let's just concentrate on the football.

20.) 16 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 23:43:13
I’m sorry 25 mate but having stood and sat in the terraces both Anfield and old Trafford for many years, it’s a rivalry that runs deep. Put it this way, do you really believe that if Steven Gerrard did the same as Rashford, the likes of Alex Ferguson, and he is still a very much in touch with the club, would he happy with a Gerrard banner in the Stretford End? Not a chance, not one iota mate. And I’d put my house on the fact that most United fans would feel exactly the same!

As for Everton and Hillsborough mate, it’s a different conversation, There were families, some mixed, both red and blue affected by the disaster. Yes the Derby has become toxic, we’ve had this conversation many a time mate. Manchester is different, it has been since the ship canal was built all those years ago.
For me, a banner on the kop is not appropriate a round of applause after the game or if substituted ( if fans were in ) yes.

{Ed025's Note - i cant see the likelyhood of a person like gerrard ever do anyhing like that drogie, but its no use me mimicing king canute mate because its obvious how most of you feel, thats the end of the matter for me mate..

21.) 16 Jan 2021
15 Jan 2021 23:44:07
Ed I see the sentiment I really do I tell u what one thank u Marcus in the Annie road end then 😉.

{Ed025's Note - anywhere i was thinking jay, if you had a big screen instead of a 14 inch black and white telly it could have gone on that mate.. :)

22.) 16 Jan 2021
16 Jan 2021 00:11:32
Also 25 mate, it’s not about being bitter . My feelings towards United have been no different since the 80’s When we were dominant, long before they were anywhere near us in terms of success.

Stood on the terraces at the old Wembley in 86, as you did that day mate, not only did the two Merseyside clubs sing “ Merseyside “ but also “ are you watching Manchester “.

{Ed025's Note - we certainly did drogie, that was a time when i was proud of my city and its people mate....now its just half of them..

23.) 16 Jan 2021
16 Jan 2021 00:19:37
25, ( I do feel you more than just a number mate 😀 but I know you as no other ) . It’s not about Steven more about a liverpool player having a banner draped over the Stratford End - not in a million years would you see that mate, regardless of the work that player has down for society.

{Ed025's Note - thats conjecture of course drogie, but im not one to bear grudges mate and we move on, i have said all i want to say on the matter and and as far as im concerned its closed..

24.) 16 Jan 2021
16 Jan 2021 08:15:23
OUTSIDER PERSPECTIVE ALERT lol . . . .

I'd love to see some acknowledgement of Rashford's work. not sure it needs to be of him, but a thank you gesture or something to that effect wouldn't go amiss imo

p. s. it never hurts to be the bigger person lol.

25.) 16 Jan 2021
16 Jan 2021 08:37:59
I think Rashford has been brilliant but this is a non starter, thank him in the press or social media but this needs to be put to bed now.

26.) 16 Jan 2021
16 Jan 2021 10:48:08
I think if footballers can wear rainbow laces and take a knee, then a football club and it’s fans can acknowledge a person for what he’s done for a lot of people, far more worthy IMO.

{Ed025's Note - you would think so pegleg..

27.) 16 Jan 2021
16 Jan 2021 11:29:56
What about a really long winded banner that'd take him 90 minutes to read?

{Ed025's Note - yeah rigsby we could get Red Meister to write it mate.. :) no offence to my old mate RM..

28.) 16 Jan 2021
16 Jan 2021 11:38:42
Rashford the man has done a magnificent thing and probably deserves a knighthood.
Rashford the footballer, plays for our biggest rivals, and his team have just knocked us off the top of the table.
I do not want him in a happy frame of mind on Sunday by having a banner in the Kop.
I want him as miserable as f*ck because the only kicks he is getting are from LFC players.
After the game shake his hand (virtually) and tell him what a great man he is.

29.) 16 Jan 2021
16 Jan 2021 16:09:10
Don’t get sucked in by Ed25 guys. He seems to think that Liverpool fans fans should be held to a higher standard than any other fans in the country so that when we don’t live up to his lofty expectations (which he doesn’t expect of any other team, even his own) he can call us Neanderthals and ‘typical kopites’. It’s bitterness born out of knowing he supports a club that will never be what we are. Winning major trophies and being loved by fans all over the world.
When all other clubs have a banner to support Rashford but we don’t then you might have a point Ed. At the moment you are just showing us you’ll use any excuse to have a pop at Liverpool fans, again.
And we are the bitter Neanderthals? 🤷🏼‍♂️.

{Ed0666's Note - I think you’ve got the wrong impression of Eds 025. He’s a seriously likable guy and he really calls it how he sees it. Remember he’s lived in the city of Liverpool for around 800 years and is a scouser through and through. He just wants what’s best for the city and hankers for the days when it used to be a friendly rivalry between the clubs and not a bitter one (pun intended lol) Saying that of course he’s biased as so am I towards Liverpool and as is Eds 001. F
