As much as we want to thrash the mancs on sunday, I hope we pay some respect to Marcus Rashford by putting something on the kop, I am sure there are many families that have benefited from his great work across Merseyside and the uk in general, then soon as the whistle blows we beat of course we want to beat him.

Somebody posted on here a few week's ago about singing a song for Rashford and well that idea was well short down. Mention him on social media or in the paper cause the lad had done a brilliant job.

It’s not just about me Mighty Reds, there will be no banners on the kop with regards to Rashford
I’ve been going the game since the early 80’s mate and there is a lot of history between the two clubs both good and bad - Munich, Hillsborough.

It is what it is mate.

All jokes aside the lads done well for what he stands for, personally a donation from the club to the effort before the game should be enough. On the pitch for 90 mins that goes out the window as its 11 v 11.

A Utd player with a banner on the kop? Not a chance! I applaud him for what he’s done but that’s just not necessary. The Kop is and always has been a place where we go to worship our own team. Let’s leave the admiration for other team’s players to other avenues outside the stadium.

I’ve great respect for the lad what he’s done out side football but that’s where it stays outside!
I’ve seen some awful banners hung by the mancs on the terraces and us likewise!

You won’t find such a banner on either the kop or the Gwladys Street end. And for me, I wouldn’t want to see it. I’d be more than happy to shake Rashford’s hand and tell him what an amazing and bloody brilliant job he’s done . But.

For those that remember, the Merseyside rivalry was put aside during the battle of Everton valley and it would be the same today.

Probably not a comments you’d not want to hear from me 25 mate but.

{Ed025's Note - very surprising i must say drogie, are you really that bitter about another team or city?, there has always been massive rivalry between teams and none more so than everton and liverpool, yet when hillsborough happened it brought the city together to the extent that there were blue scarves on the kop and red scarves in the gwladys street, now i know this is different and times have certainly changed since then but it was something that brought people together and put footballing rivalry to one side.
what marcus rashford has done for the poor and hungry children in this country has been nothing short of magnificent, a common goal we all should share and surely that trancends any football rivalry, maybe im being a bit steve naive here mate but i thought differences may have been put aside for once and we could show the world we are not all neanderthals....but i guess im wrong..

Ed25, the red and blue of Merseyside is different we’re from the same households I hate r kid but I’d fight you for him. Rashford is one of us in the fact he is from rough council estate etc. He gets the respect he deserves from everyone ( except tories) he is a special human being and Liverpool supporters acknowledge and praise that! Let’s have it right he’s only doing what he and all of us should be doing. You having a dig saying banging your head cos it’s Liverpool supporters ( not putting a banner on the kop, which I agree with) is the bitter evertonian in you! Utd have been your first team for past 20 years. I’m game for banter but that is just rabble rousing. No banner on the kop!

I do enjoy that Rashford has embarrassed the Conservative and Unionist Party, but he's hardly the only footballer to engage in charitable activities.

As someone said, has Mane gotten banners or visible appreciation from the Old Trafford faithful for his charitable work? Or from any club? How about Bellamy? I'm sure there's plenty more that we can add to that list.

He's a good lad Rashford, but I'll pass on the banner.

You can't really compare the two scenarios. Hillsborough was football related, though I do t think we need to go down that route. Yes, what Rashford has done is very good, but as others have pointed out there is a lot worse happening around the world and plenty of other footballers have donated money and time to causes and it never gets celebrated. Let's just concentrate on the football.

I’m sorry 25 mate but having stood and sat in the terraces both Anfield and old Trafford for many years, it’s a rivalry that runs deep. Put it this way, do you really believe that if Steven Gerrard did the same as Rashford, the likes of Alex Ferguson, and he is still a very much in touch with the club, would he happy with a Gerrard banner in the Stretford End? Not a chance, not one iota mate. And I’d put my house on the fact that most United fans would feel exactly the same!

As for Everton and Hillsborough mate, it’s a different conversation, There were families, some mixed, both red and blue affected by the disaster. Yes the Derby has become toxic, we’ve had this conversation many a time mate. Manchester is different, it has been since the ship canal was built all those years ago.
For me, a banner on the kop is not appropriate a round of applause after the game or if substituted ( if fans were in ) yes.

Also 25 mate, it’s not about being bitter . My feelings towards United have been no different since the 80’s When we were dominant, long before they were anywhere near us in terms of success.

Stood on the terraces at the old Wembley in 86, as you did that day mate, not only did the two Merseyside clubs sing “ Merseyside “ but also “ are you watching Manchester “.

Rashford the man has done a magnificent thing and probably deserves a knighthood.
Rashford the footballer, plays for our biggest rivals, and his team have just knocked us off the top of the table.
I do not want him in a happy frame of mind on Sunday by having a banner in the Kop.
I want him as miserable as f*ck because the only kicks he is getting are from LFC players.
After the game shake his hand (virtually) and tell him what a great man he is.

Don’t get sucked in by Ed25 guys. He seems to think that Liverpool fans fans should be held to a higher standard than any other fans in the country so that when we don’t live up to his lofty expectations (which he doesn’t expect of any other team, even his own) he can call us Neanderthals and ‘typical kopites’. It’s bitterness born out of knowing he supports a club that will never be what we are. Winning major trophies and being loved by fans all over the world.
When all other clubs have a banner to support Rashford but we don’t then you might have a point Ed. At the moment you are just showing us you’ll use any excuse to have a pop at Liverpool fans, again.
