I think it's fair to say that something isn't quite right with us at the moment. You can have one match where you massively dominate possession but lose - it happens sometimes. But when you are consistently having 70% possession but not really creating clear cut chances, and you're missing the chances you do create, it's a bit more of a worry. We are giving away possession, either through misplaced passes or unsuccessful dribbles, a lot. When we do manage to open something up, the final ball is poor.

I think our out-of-form players at the moment are (by their own exceedingly high standards) the front three and the two full backs. As almost all of our goals are scored and/ or created by those five players, it's no surprise that we're struggling to convert the possession into goals. Despite all of our injury problems at centre back, actually I think it's the position that concerns me least at the moment. We need the full backs and the strikers back on their game.

Robertson and Trent's delivery, usually so accurate and incisive, has been really poor for the last few matches. The first touch of the front three is heavy and careless and the shooting and finishing is poor. Our away form is terrible.

We've missed the opportunity to pull away in recent weeks but every team is having good spells and poor spells. I think we'll come again soon. Can't believe Utd could be top by the time we play them in our next league match. Villa in the FA Cup will probably look like a reserves fixture and then we need to come back firing against Utd.

Who knows RR, maybe we’ll be lucky enough to see a game of football break out one of these days?
Because, this season, it’s all been opponents with 11 men behind the ball.
Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat.
Match day is more like Groundhog Day, sick of it.

The team have been poor for so many games now and the funk hasn’t left.
Forget injuries the team are not creating any chances plus the rare occasions they get it they miss and completely change the game
Liverpool don’t deserve to be top so let them deal with dropping down the table
If they want this league to fight for it - klopp had to shout all of the first half which is embarrassing . I am happy they lost cos they have been playing like they have a 30 point lead - Henderson an Fabinho - wow I feel sorry for them what a joke that is.

Juicer, Southampton didn't sit with 11 men behind the ball.

Some of our decision making is poor at the moment, including the manager's.

{Ed0666's Note - I agree mate were taking that extra second or two to make decisions it’s not instinctive and natural as it used to be.

Looks like we've been found out abit recently. Doesn't help with our midfielders having to play at the back. But teams are nullifying the space the fullbacks used to get and its killing trents game. Robbo hasn't played a bad game all season but he does seem to be passing inside or back instead of having the confidence to beat the man and whip one in. Its just not going right for the front 3 bad touch every time they have some space. Says tiredness to me need jota back to freshen it up. And if teams are going to mark our fullbacks we need someone in the middle to exploit the space and beat the lines. Hopefully ox can be that guy if he can stay fit otherwise it looks abit grim atm. All teams will have blips throughout the season as its not a normal one but this is hard watching.

Also definitely pen on mane when he went past walker Peters and got taken down. Useless officiating again.

{Ed0666's Note - looked like a pen to me but I can see why it wasn’t given

Never a pen. We would've been fuming if given against us.

If you are winning 1-0 against the league champions why wouldn't you sit back with 11 men behind the ball? Especially when our attack looks as impotent as it does right now.

I think Robbo been good and had played some excellent balls into the box. Most of the balls in the box though bobby is about 20 yards away outside the box and Salah no longer attacks crosses so crossing balls in is a toothless attack for us.

{Ed0666's Note - I thought Robbo balls were no way near excellent to be honest mate and he wasn’t on it today not to his usual standard anyway.

Robbo has been our best player this season so I give him loads of slack put his final ball was below standard today.

{Ed0666's Note - wayyyy below standard.

I think the loss of form it is two fold personally. Firstly the defence is a massive issue, not so much that it is weak without any defenders available but more that the mode field is weaker as well because of it. This causes an overall huge drop in quality and this the attack suffers as well. Whilst the squad can cope with a few changes and squad players coming in, this level of alteration is not good. People like Jose can say normal injuries as much as they want but we are seriously unlucky. Secondly and I’m almost sick of saying it but again a top class striker and we don’t lose that game today. I’m sorry but Bobby is just not what he was a few years back and needs to be moved deeper into midfield or replaced outright. Disagree all you want but Iv seen enough over many years now to be confident in saying that. Don’t get me wrong I hope he turns it round but he just isn’t producing currently.

{Ed0666's Note - I agree wholeheartedly with you’re first point the second point regarding Bobby not so much.

Another game where Firmino and Gini were pretty much non existent. I’m sure they are due their 1 in 5 good game next though fingers crossed.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m tired of saying this but you try and perform when you’re body is pretty much at its maximum output and you try and get some more minutes out of it.

Ed0666 maybe excellent was the wrong word to use mate. I was talking about the last few games mind where we’ve not won. Robbo has put some dangerous crosses in but they aren’t dangerous if no one is attacking them. No denying when most of the balls go into the box Bobby is outside the box and Salah no longer attacks them. Leaves mane up against 4-5 defenders. Same thing happened first half v wba.

{Ed0666's Note - I wasn’t calling you out mate and I agree Robbo is boss but today his crosses were being blocked, intercepted, not reaching any of our players. He was a bit off today and I don’t blame in he’s been working his goads off for weeks.

I agree we seem to be thinking too much. Nothing is instinctive at the moment. Then when we do get in we just won’t shoot!
Teams are finding it easier to defend against us because they are sharper than us. The always get to the ball first. Ricochets in the box they are first to react. It’s all just a bit forced and desperate from us right now. Trent is a case in point. How many times did he try to go past Bertrand by just booting the ball at him? No confidence, imagination or flow. Robbo gets into great positions and hits a defender every time.
Mane is trying too hard, Salah’s touch has gone. Bobby comes too deep and plays everything safe.
I’m sure we’ll be back on it but just need to play our way out of this little spell. Let’s hope we are still in the race when we finally do.

Yeah I don’t expect many to agree with me in the Bobby front Ed. On his day he’s brilliant I freely admit and a few years back when he was at his best I wouldn’t of swapped him for anyone. Nowadays the consistency has dropped massively to the point where I start thinking it’s would be worth having a proper striker playing in his position because then at least that player would finish some of the chances Bobby just doesn’t. He’s always got away with this because of his brilliant all round game but fact is it isn’t that brilliant anymore.
Anyway, we definitely need a defender this Jan. doesn't need to be a world beater. I’d be happy with some bang average PL experienced defender that can plug a gap until the big guns are back next year and then provide reasonable cover or even just a loan player to see us through. Either way I think it’s an absolute must.
