Different and very exciting lineup. Hope Hendo has a good game at CB, solid test against a good Saints attack.

If Tiago hadn't got injured I think this would of been the plan all along with Joel out aswell.

Bad call by Klopp. Should have stuck with Nat Phillips. It’s going to be a very long night.

Quite frankly terrible again.

Seem way off the pace AGAIN.

Frustrating.

Come on lads, strong second have now.

Not Looking good again. We don’t look confident at al and like I said a few weeks ago I feel that the lack of CB options will cost us heavily in the title chase and thus looks like being the case. Henderson is not a defender.

Apparently handball isn’t handball anymore. Guarantee if that was down the other end that would be given.

If ever there was a game for Jota.

I will be very interested to read Eds report. they all looked tired, sluggish. The same route over and over again with little to no flair or improvisation. Mane looked frustrated, Salah was non-existent. Total domination in terms of possession, but there was no spark or creativity at all.

That was utterly pathetic. This is not going to get better anytime soon without a decent starting centre back. Playing two centre midfielders was a recipe for disaster. If we do that against United they’ll destroy us. As far as I’m concerned the best thing we can do is bring in a centre back, play the youth in the FA cup and bin that two Bob competition off as soon as possible and give the starting players a weeks rest and stop putting square pegs in round holes.

Yep no one can say we deserved to win that game. Glad there is no league game for a while. Thiago was off the pace, not surprisingly.

On another day we could have won that game, but it looks like we used up all our goals against Palace. I have to agree with Ed1, we definitely need shooting practice.

Sour grapes (rose tinted) I know, but don’t get me started on Mariner. Some shockers in amongst that lot. Fat lady ain’t singing yet though, there’s a long way to go😉.

They have had plenty of rest but still poor. I don't know what the answer is and worryingly neither does Kloppo. It will come good

Onto the next game quickly.

Nothing to do with shooting practice that Devon. We didn't create anywhere near enough chances. First half was embarasing AGAIN.

{Ed0666's Note - you do realize we’ve got a serious injury crisis. Players aren’t being rested because there’s no players to replace them with. Performance levels will drop and affect the way we play.

Come on, enough with the excuses we were terrible in the first half nothing to do with injuries. We were so deep in the second half Thiago was playing in the back 3.

Southampton had as many or more injuries than us (and a player off in the game) . We are in a very difficult period and we will hopefully turn it around. But when we play terrible like the first half please no excuses. I think some of the players are using injuries as excuses instead of looking after their own game.

Southampton did at least start with two proper centre backs, we didn’t. Playing two centre midfielders trying to muddle through was always a risk that could backfire horribly, and it did. No leadership in defence and lacked Henderson’s drive in midfield. Notwithstanding some pretty questionable refereeing decisions (look at the extremely soft penalty that United got against Villa and compare that with the two decisions from last night where there’s a fairly blatant handball - the Southampton player has literally put his arms out to block the ball, certainly not a case where the ball hit his hands as he was using the arms to cushion his fall -and where Mane was fouled in the box) .

If we don’t bring in a centre back and persist with this foolhardy idea of playing two centre midfielders then the season is as good as over. I’m still with the idea that we need to bin off the FA cup by playing the under 23’s to give our first choice players a rest too.
