I know the odds are heavily against it, due to financial restrictions from this C. V. environment, but I really think we need to purchase a starting CB, this window. I'm aware that VVD and Gomez will be back, but for all practical purposes the won't be their usual selves until next season. So how is it that we will go through both Champions League and EPL season with our top two CBs out and the third being unfit or injured 3-4 games for every game he plays. We don't have a fourth CB, and both Philips and Williams have now shown the weaknesses that cancel them out as starters. Fabinho is a midfield player just filling in, even though he is damn good at it.

It's a very tough decision for the club and FSG to make. Do you take this season like any other normal one and invest, or do you assume a "let's go with what we have and hope for the best" this special C. V. year? My view is that if the full 38 games are played then the history books will remember it like any other year with perhaps an asterisk, but not much differently. The club's accountants and the fans will see it differently of course, but that's what perspective is all about.

How eager are FSG to equal and then overtake ManU's 20 EPL wins? I'm sure that's a burning question at both Anfield and Old Trafford, that nobody is openly talking about.

Why do we have to equal that record this season?
FSG will do the right thing by the club's long term needs, not pander to fans who want success NOW.
If the finances and the deal are there and Klopp approves, they'll re-inforce where it's most needed.
The long term financial security of the club is paramount though, there's been enough financial despair in the last decade or so to not want to go back down that route.

Flash - My viewpoint is long term too. Particularly, the fact that FSG is an investment vehicle operating in the professional sports sphere. Selling (whenever they decide to do so) the winningest club in English First Division history is worth more than selling the second winningest. Being the winningest is probably one of the few goals that both FSG and the fans have in common.

Aray the very fact that we are starting tonight’s game with at least one if not 2 midfielders as our centre backs should absolutely confirm we must get a CB in January. Klopps would rather play players out of position than keep risking Philips and Williams speaks volumes.

My question is, what CB's who will come straight in to the starting 11 are out there, and will be available.

Klopp doesn’t need a centre back. Hence why he’s playing 2 centre midfielders there tonight. If anything happens to Hendo or Fab we might end up seeing Bobby playing there.

Confirmed Hendo starts alongside Fab in defence. Ed001 do you think it’s a case of Klopp not trusting Williams or Phillips enough that he has to play Hendo there? Surely this highlights how we must get a CB in January?

{Ed001's Note - it will be about two things, pace and controlling the play. Neither Williams or Phillips have any pace and neither are good enough on the ball to allow Liverpool to dominate the ball. Teams just attack them the moment they get the ball and it causes them problems.}

Argh right ok mate. Klopp clearly knows what he is doing but it just highlights how much we need a CB the fact that the 2 we have have are not up to the standards. I hope we come through this game with 3 points. I’m worried about there Ariel threat also, especially on corners.

I think Klopp has done the right thing in dropping Henderson into the back 4, especially with Thiago taking a midfield spot. Its not ideal but needs must.

Jurgen knows the crack lads. Enjoy the game.

Tagore will run the show.
