Bang on Ed, should have dropped Hendo back and brought on the Ox for Matip, would have solved two problems at once.

I agree on the Hendo front. In the first half he was almost playing as a third centre half anyway he was that deep. Think if he had dropped in there and Shaq or Minamino came in to play just off the front 3 it would have kept WBA pinned back and would surely have created some more opportunities for us. 2 shots on target against a team we had so much possession against was not good.

Brilliant as usual ed. Was a bad day yesterday but biy is this place a bummer - we are still top by 3-4 points people!
"being able to move constantly between two formations. From 6-4-0 to 5-5-0 without a noticeable gap appearing at the back" - mice one and made me laugh! 😀.

All I can say about yesterday’s game is I never want to watch another game where big Sam is managing one of the teams. That was dreadful to watch.

Thanks Ed, brilliant assessment of what went wrong I thought. Just one thing; I felt that it was a foul on Fab for their goal? The guy put both hands on Fab’s shoulders from what I saw.

{Ed001's Note - meh, maybe it could have been seen as one, I never really saw it as a foul, it was not like he held Fabs down or used him to get more height from what I saw.}

Okay gotcha Ed. Maybe it was my annoyance clouding my judgment. Cheers mate.

{Ed001's Note - you could be right too. It is very difficult to tell how much those kind of things hinder a player, so it does come down to a subjective viewpoint. Usually though our own biases do tend to alter how subjective we actually are!}

Fully agree with your assessment of the game there Ed. I’ve generally been very impressed with Jones but I thought he took too many touches at times yesterday, slowing the attacks down and at other times, including for the goal, he was careless in possession. The moment he turned back inside which led to us conceding the corner it felt like the wrong thing to be doing. Perhaps it’s down to having a little time off like you suggest. Anyway, he will no doubt learn from the game and long term it will help his development. I must also say that I hadn’t really noticed Williams lack of pace, something you’ve mentioned numerous times, but he was left for dead yesterday at one point, is he young enough to work of his speed?

{Ed001's Note - you can always improve but it is only incremental improvements that can be made. He will never be anything but slow, he could just be less slow.}

Thanks for the review. As it’s a game of opinions I must say I thought Trent had a very poor game. As did the midfield in the second half they got out played by a championship team. It reminded me of 3 years ago. Can, Hendo, Gini zero creativity.

Great read as always, Ed. I think our boys just had a bad day at the office and Klopp seemed to overthink the situation a bit too much regarding what subs to make and when to make them. Sometimes he just has to just pull the trigger, try to secure the win and then deal with the fall out later.

As for Williams, I do not know why he gets picked ahead of Phillips who is the better defender? Is it cos he is better on the ball or that he is more composed cos I don’t see it? Phillips may not have pace but he is not as slow, combersome and poor in the air and as poor a reader of the game as Williams is. I hope Phillips gets the start the next game and that we improve overall as a team and on a managerial level.
