The alternative is to say nothing and let VAR continue to ruin the game we all love.

{Ed025's Note - im with you thunderbird..

{Ed025's Note - dont underestimate the power of the fans barry, we have seen people power when liverpool rescinded the furlough decision mate, the supporters are the lifeblood of this game mate..

But everyone wanted to ed 25? Every interview said why don't we use technology, to then say we don't need it doesn't make sense.

{Ed025's Note - technology is fine when used properly MR, the fact is its not mate and should be scrapped until it is failproof imo mate..

It’s hard to take. But you could see it coming from a mile off. We wasn’t good enough to win the game, we didn’t pick the line-up to win the game, and Klopp has got himself into a political debate about substitutes and kick off times to where he’s lost focus on what matters, winning.
The weakened line up against Atalanta and resulting loss, has made him now pick another weak line up vs Brighton, because Ajax is now a massive game where it should’ve been a nothing contest.
Now because of that Atalanta lineup we’ve lost our joint top spot and Milners injured. January transfer window can’t come soon enough we need 2/ 3 players end of discussion.

I have to be honest, VAR is totally ruining football, and not just for us, every team has been screwed by VAR. I say go back to the old days and just use goal line technology. Let the refs and linesman makes the odd honest mistake. This system is a joke and I'm at the point where I don't even want to watch it anymore. It's annoying me that much.

{Ed025's Note - i have said the same all along j6, why fix something thats not broken?..

Ok then ed25 which sport would you use as an example to follow mate?

{Ed025's Note - rugby MR, cricket works perfectly but is a slower game mate so its hard to compare mate..

Okay, so if we scrap it how many of us would be able to live with the consequences? For example. Mane's header that led to a goal. If it had been an opponent instead and we all realized it was offside immediately after seeing the slowmo replay, but with no recourse to a review by VAR, we'd be back to we are now. Grumbling, mumbling etc etc etc.

Aray no issues with manes decision and its what var should be used for clear cut decisions, what VAR shouldn't be used for is conjecture and lines.

Two years ago if the tight offsides were given for or against you accepted them because they were borderline.

What fans didn't except was a player miles offside missed by officials.
No one complained about tight offsides I don't understand the need to try and make it black and white. The tech isn't there to do that. Unlike goalline where it is but the goal line is a fixed point.

As said above football is fast, you can't slow it down as it doesn't take the situation into account.

I watch a lot of rugby as it’s my 2nd sport behind Football. Unfortunately rugby Var cannot be compared to football Var or used as an example. Rugby is very much physical but it is so stop start. I actually looked into this the other week and in the last study they did the ball is only in play around 50% or less. And they lose so much time to scrums, line outs and penalties. My point being is their video analysis is very slow but it’s not noticed in the game due to all the other factors. For me Var should just be binned from football. Today we had another tough 50/ 50 decision go against us for the Salah goal. No complaints about the Mane goal as he was offside and let’s not forget it shouldn’t have even been a free kick as white took the ball in a good hard tackle. And sadly for me it was a pen. Only say that because if the shoe was on the other foot we would be crying blue murder and saying it was. Been a tough week but we pick ourselves up and go again Tuesday.

Ed25, I am slowly getting to where you are with scrapping VAR. My beef is that the very rules they set up to enforce it are being flouted on a game by game basis and new one being made up in real time. Today, the ref saw the whole play, deemed nothing wrong and most importantly, not a soul from Brighton even appeal it.

So with that said, how did the ref make a “ clear and obv. ” error if he saw it and nobody appealed from Brighton and most importantly, the ref saw Welbeck dive after running a few yards after contact? See what I am saying.

Now just watch the shameless PGMOL come out this week to make up a new rule to erase this one just to offer cover for another shambolic display of BAR.

{Ed025's Note - its a joke mate..

Ok I can actually talk now Ed025 that my BP has gone down. You said earlier on about either amending or scrapping VAR and for me mate it has to be scrapped.

{Ed025's Note - yeah im all for that barry mate..

It wasnt that long ago most fans were for VAR because of refs getting major decisions wrong. I was never a fan, its like football under a microscope now, too analytical for me. Hopefully they can find a happy medium because its actually taking the fun out of the game.

{Ed025's Note - i agree irish mate, its too clinical..

VAR should be used when goals are clearly offside. The Mane goal and the Salah goal, as well as the Leeds goal that was disallowed a few weeks ago for pointing past a player were mental not to be given. Most games have a pen now too which sucks the life out of things. VAR is useless at stopping fouls. Harry Maguire has headlocked so many players you'd think he was in the WWE, yet I don't think VAR has punished him once. we see so many pens given when hands are down and the ball is blasted at the point blank.

Just scrap at and hold officials to a higher standard, give them some margin or error but incentivise young and upcoming refs and make it so if you keep up and messing about and being inconsistent you will be replaced.

The worse thing currently is officiating and rules just seem so inconsistent and change every week. How can the players and fans enjoy it when every week we see one game give a pen for a certain foul, the exact same foul occurs in the next game and no pen is given. Bonkers.

As I've said before, they've tried to be too precise with VAR and making it too complicated. For example, the offside rule has now become a joke, if they kept the 'daylight' rule it would be much, much easier to determine.
The same goes for Handball offenses. If they see even a twitch in the direction of the offenders arm toward the ball, hand ball.

Additionally the people operating the VAR service are relentlessly inept. So the more simple the make the rules, the easier the simpleton VAR officials will understand it.
