They way forward for us is f#%# VAR we don’t need to rely on it just beat teams if we can! I absolutely hate it I seen Chelsea done today but a couple of mins later they check for a peno for Utd! Don’t want to hear the it’s against LFC agenda smart comets! It’s just a joke now!

{Ed0666's Note - the biggest shock of the weekend so far is United not getting a pen kick. The VAR system at Old Trafford must be in for repair.

Terrible decision to award that penalty to Sheffield United. Wasn't even a free kick.

{Ed025's Note - hmmm, at least you got away with the other 3 OMM so i would not be complaining if i was you mate..

Ed25 you must have missed the bit where they changed the rule after the uproar about the pens you just mentioned so robbos is not a pen in any game now, and rightly so imo, , , and berge was going down before he got near anyone. These are well built guys going down quicker than Katie price on a new boyfriend. The contact should put you down for it to be a penalty, not feel contact and then go down. But sadly not anymore.

{Ed025's Note - your probably right port, i just hope it will stop all the crying and whining from liverpool supporters about them not getting the rub of the green where VAR is concerned mate, but im not holding my breath..

I think one thing every fan can agree on regardless of what team they support is Var is shocking and it’s actually leading to referees becoming worse because ether are now relying on. Far to much money has exchanged hands with the big wigs for Var to be binned but something has to change.

{Ed025's Note - i could not agree more JK, refs are using VAR as a crutch and are not vigilant enough knowing any mistakes will be rectified by the 4th offical (supposedly), its the same when the linesman dont put the flag up for offside anymore even when its blatant, someone is going to get injured when they carry on and a keeper and forward clash when there is no need, its at otal shambles mate..

Prt red, thanks for the clarification as I did not know that handball rule rule had been changed. In that case, the only decision I can see that was iffy was the Berge penalty shout which looked iffy for me cos it looked like he slumped a bit waywardly to the ground which could have put the ref off from giving it.

As for the singling out of LFC fans for whining about what is hurting many other teams, oh please, miss me with that rubbish. Chelsea fans, LFC fans and rival fans all over SM, are pissed that they did not get a pen at OT after the UFC hold from Maguire on Azpi so pls, enuff of singling LFC supporters out for complaining about what everyone else is complaining about. THAT is what is becoming tedious and boring, IMO.

We all know that decision by committee (which VAR basically is) is usually not the best possible, and can be disastrous. So no real surprises here. The refereeing and decision making has to be narrow and focused and left to one man or entity, in all sports and athletics.

ArAy1969 in other leagues (like Spain and esp. Germany), the issue here is that VAR is used as a tool to help the ref make better decisions and for the most part, the center ref, has the final decision which is why they employ the pitch-side monitor a lot.

In England, the VAR system is as you say, refereeing by committee which IMO, is NOT the goal of VAR based on it's conception. The FA made it this way to protect on pitch ref so he can say, "It was not me, He (whoever he is) did it", rather than help them. IMO, this was set up by design cos the same incompetent refs on the pitch are the same ones in the VAR booth so can we expect anything less than chaos?

Also, The VAR should not be overruling the on pitch ref and making decisions for him. He should be there to inform the ref on things he couldn't see or SHOULD take a second look at and if he refuses then, we at least can hold him accountable. Until that happens, we will continue to see the shambles we are seeing.

To be fair Ed025 I'd have been more accepting if the Robbo handball one had been given even if his hand was in a "natural position". Its getting very close to the point of not having a referee at the game because they are basically redundant.

{Ed025's Note - i could not agree more OMM, and the bloody linesmen dont put their flags up for offside either so they could be replaced by hawkeye, its getting beyond a joke mate and all trust and integrity it had has very mush dwindled, the refs themselves dont help though as they seem to court celebrity status and are using VAR as a crutch imo mate..
