Ronaldinho better than Messi? It’s a good shout. Ronaldinho was better to watch I think, he could do things nobody else could even dream about. He completely ruined his career though, imagine what he could have achieved if he had the drive of a Messi or Ronaldo.

I agree. His was magical but was lazy and liked to party.

I agree with you mikey he was much better to watch, some of the things he did on the pitch was just unreal wasn't it but overall Messi would be the better player for me when everything is put into consideration.

If we are just talking talent I think a case can be made for ronaldinho being equal to messi, if not better.

Messi has had the benefit of the greatest Barcelona side in history and gets protected by referees quite a bit in Spain. Dinho also performed for club and country whereas messi seems to be much less effective when he doesn't have the entire team playing to his strengths.

Neither come close to Maradona who is the greatest of them all.

Pele was the greatest!

I'd choose Ronaldinho every time. Bat rubbish crazy and as someone else said generally lazy. But the most unpredictable and explosive player I've ever seen. Unplayable.

Imagine ronaldinho with Cristiano Ronaldo’s work ethic. He would have been the best ever.

Possibly TAA but I think that might have been part of his appeal. The brightest stars burn out the quickest etc.

I think its fair to say that El Fenomeno without the injuries would have been the best ever.

Lamborini I 9 I even with his injuries, Ronaldo9 is the best player I have ever seen in my entire football life of over 35 years.

If he was not ravaged by his injuries and his convulsive episode before the WC final, he would have been regarded as the best ever, hands down IMO.

Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Baggio are the sexy forward line of my all time 11.

Let Messi retire then after some time the true debate can begin.

Loved Ronaldo 9, favourite player that never wore the red, pity his injuries set him back and party lifestyle in his later years.

Bledd85, Baggio was special. Nicknamed the Devine Ponytail for a reason. Italy had never seen a player like him when he came out in the Italia 90 WC. Dragged Italy to the WC final in USA on pain killers and on one good hamstring. Stuff of legends, man.

When he was sold by Fiorentina to Juve for a world record fee after the WC, there was a huge peaceful demonstration by the fans revolting against selling him and to Juve for that matter. We will never see these kinds of again. I call them Eternal players, those that would be revered for decades to come. We will see if Messi reaches that level.

Bang on RM. I was about 10 years old during the 94 World Cup and I remember getting caught up in the hype around him. I lived in my Baggio 10 top and even had the same haircut! Was probably too young to really appreciate him especially as like you said he seriously struggled with injuries afterwards. But he's one of those god like players in my head because of that tournament. I was literally heartbroken when he missed that penalty in the final.

Bledd85, I was 18 during the WC in U. S. A. In addition I think Baggio being so great for Italy and Juve when it mattered most, was why a certain Roberto Mancini (a living legend at Sampdoria) could not really break into the the national team. Mancini was special as well esp. when he played next to Gianluca Vialli at Sampdoria and won the Scudetto in I thin, 1991. Just saying the types of legends Baggio beat out, to play for the Italy national team.

Yeah I don't even remember Mancini being in the 94 squad. I am basing that off memories of my panini sticker book mind haha.
