Banter page please Eds.

Chins up boys and girls. I remember Villa beating Liverpool 5-1 (that was actually the half time score too) in 1976/ 77 season. Guess who won the league that season. We did.

These results do happen from time to time.

Yesterday we gave them a gift and 3 deflections in 1 game - unreal.

It's strange, but I would feel more upset if we had lost 1-0 in a tight game somehow.

Have to agree with you, KBL. After a point, it felt like the hammering was written in destiny yesterday :)

Sorry KBL but I have to disagree here. While undoubtedly we did gift them goals, the shocking lack of effort was infuriating. It reminded me of some performances earlier in Klopp's tenure, the so called "easy games" where the team would shut off.

Even more concerning was the lack of leadership, mistakes happen but if Hendo was on the pitch he'd have been letting everyone know the effort level was nowhere near good enough. Van Dijk shouldn't be anywhere near the captaincy imo.

KBL, I was at the game you mention, I remember the Liverpool Echo being swamped with calls the next day from fans all over the world who were refusing to accept the result (no internet in those days) .

Three days later I went to Upton Park to see us react by thrashing West Ham but unfortunately we lost 0-2.

As you say, League Champions at the end of the season!

Spot on, KBL. Just learned that Sporting once, had battered Benfica 7-1. Who won the title that year? You guessed it, Benfica. Take your licks on the chin and move on. Work harder, get better, get back on that horse and go again.

I just feel sorry for Everton. It was not their fault what happened yesterday but they will pay the price for this. Klopp will chuck in Hendo and Milner who will be raging from the humiliation yesterday, VVD, Firmino, Fab and TAA will be itching to make up for their shambolic displays, and poor little James and Calvert-Lewin will have to go and hide behind Allan because they will be too scared from the bruised angry vengeful tigers.

FORNAX - Your point about the lack of leadership is spot on. I posted just before the Arsenal game last Monday stating that with the players we had missing we would have no leaders on the pitch. As it happened we were unbelievable against them. That makes it all the more frustrating how bad we were yesterday.

Frustrating indeed KBL, the only thing I can think of is no one needed convincing about the threat Arsenal pose.

I wouldn't be so cocky about the Everton game. If we are capable then why didn't we punish villa after half time? They're playing well and we're not. Which is mad coz we could still top the league if we beat them.

Trust me, Everton are not fearing a backlash, they're rubbing their hands together.
