fair points ED001, i do hope that VVD does not think he has done it all now, he can achieve so much more if he applies himself, he has set the standards, now he has to maintain them.
Credit to leeds they only have 4 shots but 3 of those were on target, they will cause many sides problems.
Salah gave one of his best ever performances in a liverpool shirt imo, he was simply unstoppable, bodes well for the coming season when your star man is at it from the start.
Nice to see Klopp using the subs bench well, giving Fabinho and jones plenty of time to make a difference.
I am glad your doing these match reports again, as i enjoy reading them.

{Ed001's Note - sorry it took so long, I rewrote it a few times as I wasn't happy with it initially.}

I think vvd made a comment something along the lines of ‘the mistakes don’t bother me it’s part of football’.

Whilst for many I would like this approach to keep confidence I’d Like to think It’s just a front and he does worry about them, as I don’t think a confidence issue will ever be a problem for Virgil, Just hope he learns from it!

I'd just like to understand the reasoning behind continuing the Keita project. Why this ongoing patience? We get 4-5 poor performances for every 1 good or really good performance (I'm probably being too nice here) . I couldn't care less for stellar performances he's had in training or pre-seasons or whatever, because they don't count. And his position on the field is so important for us because he should be providing the thrust up through the middle to add to what TAA and Robbo do on the wings.

Really excited about Jones, Ed. He’s stepped up on a couple of occasions now, putting in one good performance after an other. Feel like he’s really knocking on the doors for a start very soon. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him start at least 3-5 games this season.

ArAy1969, Keita is on his last legs in terms of opportunities at the club and it pains me to say this as I am a huge fan of his. Keita is not playing well. Not in the least bit, IMO. Sure he has flashes of potential and all that BUT the cons currently outweigh the pros, IMO ad he needs to shape up and get his ship together cos if he does not, he will be gone and I will not cry for him.

RM, trust me, I would prefer that he live up to all the hype and potential he came to us with, too. But it's two years already with lacklustre performances and there is no sign that this 3rd year will be different. So I'd move him on now, get at least half of what we paid for him, and save on his wages for the duration of the contract. And most importantly give his squad space and position to another player who is more deserving. We bought him for 65 Million. We could perhaps ask for 50 Million, accept 40 Million (Euros) and run.

Great read Ed 1 loved your view on Robertson maybe he’s upping his game more now we do have another lb in the ranks. Love robbo but extra competition making him even better!

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, that might be it. It will do him good to have the opportunity to have a break if he does tire as well.}

Ed01 regarding Keita, there is something I noticed during the game. On the first goal, Phillips receives the ball from his back line, turns around has time on the ball and sprays the pass to Harrison who does TAA and Gomez and scores a beautie. What many people myself included, did not see was how late Keita was to recognize this sequence of play instinctively and start the press to harry Phillips.

This inability to recognize/ diagnose such plays and instinctively trigger the press, is what David Maddock alluded to in an interview I saw on Youtube months ago when he was talking about Keita. He said he is still behind in this respect and goes to sleep during games and is not consistent in the way he anticipates these things and that this is one of the areas Klopp needs for him to improve. Keita seems to still be lacking in this regard.

{Ed001's Note - very much so, that was the one where he ducked under the pass I think, which was not smacked hard or anything but he **** out big time. That is pathetic. The thing is with Keita, no matter how hard people try to find indicators of improvement, he quite simply isn't improving and doesn't look like he cares to try and improve either.}

Thanks Ed! Always enjoy hearing your opinion on the games, Jones definitely looks the part in that midfield!
