Sitting here thinking about the new season.

Everyday I come on here and read about how we are being left behind in the transfer market. How we won a lot of games by the odd goal and were, perhaps, lucky on occasion. And while I don't believe this at all, it does start to rub off on you.

Liverpool have been in 2 of the last 3 ucl finals. We have been in the top 2 by a long long way for the last 2 years. We are not a flash in the pan team. Saying "we won the game by one goal" as if that proves we rode our luck is absolutely ridiculous. The sentence goes "we won the game" end of.

We have players the other mega clubs drool over and a manager too. We have the greatest fans in the world. And our boys now have trophies.

Do you really think that Ali, van djike, Henderson and mane are going to rest on the laurels now we've won the league? Did we become complacent when we won the European Cup? No. We became better.

And while we've only signed tsimi at lb, taki is a new signing really. They are massive signings. At lb, milner is freed up to operate in midfield more. Gini may go but milly will be able to fill in. Andy Robertson can go full whack knowing he can rest if needs be. Its a really good signing I think. And minamino is another inspired signing. He can play multiple positions and is going to be huge when he finds his feet. And our big signing keita looks to have turned a corner. Almost like a new signing too.

I think the squad already looks bigger and better with new dynamics, just with 2 signings.

If someone gave you a million pound to put a bet on the pl winners this coming season, would anyone be putting that cool million on Chelsea? Would you be putting it on utd?
You would put it on Liverpool. Why? Because man City are going backwards and because Liverpool are the best TEAM in the premier league. Let city have messi. I wouldn't swap gini for messi, if the guy played for 20 grand a week.

I think the third team is not even being mentioned because they were nowhere last season. But I think utd and Chelsea will be competing with spurs and arsenal, not Liverpool and city. Spurs aren't going to vanish, they'll be back and they're my surprise tip for top 4

Liverpool
City
Spurs
Chelsea.

Spurs over Chelsea coz they signed a guy from Wolves lol. why do you think city is going backwards? They are strengthening their team and are about to fill their biggest hole by adding defenders.

They're going backwards because their top players are ageing and retiring. They are going backwards in the champions league.

And tyrion, it has nothing to do with "coz they signed some guy from wolves" no. That's not why. I didn't evdn know. I presume it's Doherty?
Football is not just about signing a player. Teams can spend 200 mil and go backwards. Or teams can lose their star player and improve.

The reason I think spurs will break the top four is because of the manager. His only failure was utd where he picked up 3 trophies in 2 years.

There is more than one way to improve a team. It's not just signings. Spurs have some high class players, one or two world class talents. And if they can get deli playing and keep kane fit they're dangerous. Jose's players love him and I think he'll have them winning games next season.

You get a surprise team EVERY SEASON. and spurs is my tip. Quietly going about their business.
When the season kicks off the still have aldwrweirald and vertongan at the back, they are still going to have winks in the middle, improving all the time. They have son flying down the wing, Ali working around the 18 yard box and kane finishing just about everything that falls for him.

I see the top 4 ending up exactly the same teams as last season.

One of the best posts I have read on this forum in a while. Bravo, Robbie. You make way too much sense. And I agree that City may be signing players BUT those old heads like Kompany, Silva, Aguero (on his last legs and injury-prone) and Fernandinho are the backbon, e of this club. Those guys cannot be replaced overnight with the Ake's, Foden's and Bernardo's overnight. And Ferran Torres is NO Leroy Sane or at least not yet.

As for Chelsea, they are getting a brand new team due to their departures and tho individually, they have some cracking players BUT football is still a team game so they will need time to gell. Coaching also matters as we have seen in the CL with the brilliance of Flick or Naggelsmann and I don't think Lampard is anywhere near these coaches, tactically so he too will need time to improve. Utd? Ole's at the wheel so we are good there and Mou will improve Spurs to top 4 at best. That's about it.

LFC in all this? We are good to go. We are hungry for more success and resting on our laurels under Klopp ain't going to happen. Our rivals wish that would happen cos Klopp is eager to do what he could not do with Dortmund which is DOMINATE. His best players would have gone by now were he still at Dortmund and with Hendo and Milner keeping the standards up, it is our rivals who should be afraid, VERY afraid IMO.

Robbiesline not sure where you get Jose's players love him, his last few gigs the players have massively downed tools on him, hell he had utd in serious relegation form.

Really think he's yesterdays man, great in his day but that day was a long long time ago.

I wouldn't put that million on Liverpool. Not this season.

This isn't going to be popular, but I don't think Liverpool can win it without fans. Nothing to do with signings or squad depth. Liverpool are not the same animal without fans in the stadium. I'd love to be proved wrong but I'm expecting a frustrating season.

Also, when fans will be allowed back in, it won't be to full capacity and I feel until it is, it will handicap our team. We'll no doubt beat the teams that we are clearly technically better than, but for the big games, we'll lose that 12th man.

Epicpotato, I agree with you that w/ o the fans, it will be difficult cos frankly, we would never have won the league without the fans contributing as heavily as they did. Just facts, bro.

However, I think our boys can overcome that cos they are so battle-tested and a veteran team that knows how to win. And if we could be affected in the big games at Anfield then, it means the lack of crowd away at our rivals would affect them too, IMO.

Red Meister, I really hope you're right. I'm not going full on Walter about it, but I just think we're playing at a couple of levels below our best when the stadia are empty.
