I’m confused by a lot of the posts on here lately that if we don’t spend £500m on an entire new team that we’re going to struggle in the new season.
Didn’t we just win the league by 18 points from City and finish 33 points clear of Utd and Chelsea and 43 clear of Arsenal!
All the people moaning about needing to buy at least 1 new CD, even though we conceded the fewest goals last season, even with Allison missing games.
We need a “creative midfielder” and additional options up front, but everyone agrees we have the best front 3 in world football and scored more than anyone else in the league apart from City.
I think the squad is stronger than it was at the start of last season with the addition of Minamino and Tsimikas and youngsters like Elliott, Jones, Koumetio, Hoever coming through.
Does anyone honestly think City’s new signings, combined with the loss of Silva are worth 20 points, or Chelsea’s worth 30?
We should trust Klopp and just enjoy what an amazing team we have at the moment!

Fans of every club are going to disagree. You will always get the fans that are glass half empty and you'll get fans who are half full or even overflowing at the top. And its a no win, when we win its a case of i told you so and the same if we end up not being successful next season. I actually really enjoy reading everyone's posts on here regardless of what camp they fall into. I don't understand why some get so offended when someone shares a different view to them. Imagine coming onto this site and every single poster agreeing and sharing the same view what a bore that would be. I for one am really looking forward to the season starting. Its going to be another roller coaster season and the lads have the challenge of defending the premier league title for the first time ever. If that isn't enough of a motivation for them then i don't know what is.

I don’t think anybody doubts the quality of the starting 11, because it is clearly one of the best in world football.
That being said the depth of quality is the things that need to be changed up. A winger for me is a must because currently we have nobody that fits the mould of Salah or mane and for me that is a must.

Apart from a winger I don’t see that need to massively change much although I wouldn’t be against another cm jointing to freshen it up and give something different.
Additionally a Cb might be required, Gomez and Matip have their injury worries throughout a season so unless one of the youngsters has stood out in pre season (I hope this has happened) I can see another Cb join.

A pacey winger and a cb will likely be the only singing we make. Thiago may join if Gini leaves but I’m more than happy if he stays.

For a winger to join though Shaqiri and/ or Origi will need to be sold.
I’d be happy with Taki, Brewster, Elliot and a new pacey winger as our other attacking options.

Nobody wants 500m spent what people want is improvement and they see other clubs acting despite cv and want us to act despite cv. Everyone wants what they want for what they think is in the best interests of the team. I see the likes Everton making ambitious moves, Chelsea making good signings, man utd bumbling their way through targets, city improving, arsenal beating us with their reserves against our first 11 (that aren't injured) and they're improving and then they see Liverpool who for the last 3 windows have spent around 30m on players fees in total: back up attacker, back up left back, 8th choice center back and 6th choice winger and 2 free (ish) back up goalkeepers. That's nothing taxing or particularly ambitious for 2 years. In that time the team have been thriving on the pitch despite that so perhaps signings aren't needed or perhaps they are but everyone on either side of the argument wants the same thing a competitive Liverpool team this season. Personally I see us in the battle for 4th this season currently and if mane was to leave and we bought a replacement like sarr I'd say we're struggling in the battle for 4th. As it stands I'd take top 4 and a cup run ideally a trophy of any kind.

Is all this negatively because we lost a pre season friendly? We r not the only team that is going to suffer injuries during the season and by the way some r talking you would think all the other teams have superstar replacements.

Look what happened to city last year when they lost one center back, who have arsenal got if Aubameyang gets injured? Chelsea a 35 year old and injury prone left back won't fix their problems. Seen the state of Utd trying to defend in the Europa league semis.

We don't have the money these other clubs have but what we do have is the best manager in the world who has proven over and over that he can get the best of players.

The other teams can spend all they want, but they can't buy the quality we have at r club atm.

{Ed047's Note - in 2018 when you finished 25pts behind City, did you imagine you’d catch them to be a point behind in 2019 and then smash it this year.

What changed that, was it VVD and Allison and are City in truth as far behind you as the league this year suggests. I would say 100% no.

This doesn’t mean you don’t have a top quality side because you do but don’t fall into the trap of believing others can’t catch you up and don’t have the quality you do.

You’ll be up there, there is no doubt and losing the Charity Shield is by no means the end of the world but and I’m sure you will, you have to switch back into last seasons mode against Leeds and that will be a big test.

Stay grounded.

Top 4, good run in the champions league and as early an exit as possible from the domestic cups would be fine.

Ed047 I was talking about Klopp mate. Chelsea, Arsenal and utd don't have the same quality in terms of manager as us imo. Last year was a free hit for Lampard and Arteta, we see how they get on when the pressure is on. I was pointing out that it's not only us have have squad problems.

{Ed047's Note - ahh ok mate no worries and totally agree you have one of the best mate.

The fact that Ed47 speaks more sense than certain fans I have seen on SM, is baffling but not surprising.

Also, there is a huge difference having a diff opinion on a topic and being a whiner, IMO. We can disagree on who we should sign or not sign based on what we think the priorities are cos we are cash strapped right now. That is a healthy debate.

The moaners are the ones who even refuse to accept that’d are cash strapped and then kick up dust, stumping their feet like children cos daddy could not get that toy they wanted even tho he told them the fam is struggling and his hours got due to C. V C.V..

If you are unable to spot the diff then that is a personal prob that has nothing to do with me. Whiners are free to whine just as the rational ones are free to be rational.
