ed001 what do you think about the reports of Villa being in for Origi would you cash in on him. I think we should and try to bring in a more natural wide player to put pressure of Salah and Mane as good as they have been they have wasted a lot of chances this season. Same with Bobby I would bring Brewster back to put Pressure on him. Are midfielders no they cannot not perform because we have top class players ready to take there place.

{Ed001's Note - no I wouldn't cash in on him, he is a very reliable replacement option. In big games he comes in and scores, that is invaluable. Have you forgotten Minamino?}

no I have not forgotten Minamino does not look like a wide player for the way we play more AM or false 9 back up for bobby but none of are players that come in for Salah or Mane seem to run in behind like they do they all seem to come to the ball more and not as direct what seems to take away are edge when one is missing. From what I have seen of Brewster he plays more like an out and out number 9 that likes to do most of his work down the middle inline on the 18 yard box we don't have a forward like him so i do think he would give us something different. Am not sure about Origi last season he got some very important goals but this season he has played 42 times and only scored 6 goals I know a lot of them are as a sub but in the league 28 games 7 starts 4 goals for a team the attack as much as us i don't think that's great.

{Ed001's Note - Brewster would also be running into the spaces that Mane and Salah like to run into, if he was played in place of Bobby.}

Of those 28 sub appearances, many of them were less than 5 minutes. A fair few were bare seconds. If people counted minutes played to goals scored his record would look better. 4 in seven starts is decent.

So in previous seasons he's done better. So he's proved he can do better. There is every chance he will perform much better next season.

Spot on, Robbie. Saying he played 42 games wothout the caveats, is a misnomer. Btw, I read that same report and it came from the S*n so I stopped reading after that.

In addition, Villa have serious issues scoring goals cos they cannot create enuff chances due mainly to the way they play and they already have Samatta, Wesley and another striker in the pecking order so not sure what Div would be doing there as he won't be the guaranteed starter.

Therefore IMO, why would Origi go there and toil at a relegation fodder team like he toiled at Wolfsburg whereas he could be here, not be first choice and still help out, something he is already happy with? Baffling, really.

The problem with rating any of our backup attackers is that none of them get a run in the team. Our front three don't get injured and Klopp doesn't really rotate them in the Premier League or Champions League (Mane and Salah have both started more than 90 games in 2 seasons. The only player to have played more than them is van Dijk) . So it's hard to determine exactly how good Origi, Shaqiri etc. actually are since they only make a start here and there. Few players can give their best under those circumstances.

Origi had two runs of regular footie at Liverpool that I can think of and did well enough both times, but we're talking about 2016 and 2017. A long time ago. Likewise Shaqiri had a decent run in the team a couple of months after he joined and played well, we even changed the formation in some games to accommodate him along with Salah, Mane and Bobby. But it's over a year and a half ago. The only thing I would say is that I don't think Origi is suited to playing left wing, but maybe if he had to start 5 on the bounce there he'd figure it out.

Now maybe Klopp doesn't rotate the front 3 because he doesn't think the backups are good enough, but only Klopp knows whether that's the case or not.

I remember Origi first coming in and me saying he had "Drogba"esque qualities (some of you laughed at that), back in 2016/ 17. He was fast, he got past defenders with his long powerful strides and he always had that good shot in him. Then the injuries and loans came, and he doesn't look like the same player at all. Some of it I think is that he's a player who needs space to run and beat people. With our high defensive line and the field of play being so squeezed up, he needs intricate footwork in close quarters (which he doesn't have but Mane and Salah have loads of) .

But I would still keep him. I would still want a player to come off the bench with enough self belief and confidence because he's been there before and scored enough goals in high pressure situations.

Spot on, ArAy1969. Heaven knows what Origi would have been had the injuries not happened to Big Div cos before that, he was just toying with defenders and bullying them at will. I also remember people saying that he was a mixture of Thierry Henry in terms of pace (Origi the better dribbler, IMO) and Drogba in terms of sheer power and physicality.

Also, I learnt today that despite Origi's up's and down's, he has "still" managed to score 34 goals in 112 games for LFC in all comps. which is not bad for a guy who rarely plays, rarely starts and sometimes comes on for 90 seconds before the final whistle goes. Most importantly, Origi is a big game player.

Another great thing about Big Div is that No occasion is too big for him and has ice in his veins in high pressure moments when the chances arrive and takes them well. Big moments don't come any bigger than in a CL semi final and final and of course, Merseyside derbies, mate.
