Hope all is well Eds! I am coming with a q for Ed001!

How do you see LFC’s midfield dynamic working? Are there established roles for each of the two midfielders in front of Fab? How does the rotation in midfield work and who replaces who?

These are a couple q’s which could start a discussion with fellow reds too so interested in your thoughts!

Have a gday!

{Ed001's Note - basically they play similar to a carrilero, as it is known in Spain (I think it is translates as 'shuttler' or something I can't remember now). It is a variation of box-to-box that adds more responsibility to cover wide areas when the full-backs get forward. It involves lots of hard running, which is why they are rotated so much more than any other position.

We have in essence two different type of player for those positions. Ox and Keita provide a more attacking type, with their ability to dribble and run with the ball. Then there is the Gini/Milner/Hendo type, that do drive forward but are much more defensively responsible. That is why it is usually two of the latter three in the bigger games, while one or both of Ox and Keita play in the smaller games where Klopp can take more risks for the win.}

Great answer Ed.
The speed of the back four, and in particular the two CBs, is absolutely crucial to this system too, both for the press and the recovery.
It’s great to watch, I love watching Liverpool.
Can’t wait to play Leeds next season, be so interesting.

{Ed001's Note - yes mate spot on, it allows for the high line needed to play a press.}

I’ve loved seeing nico Williams begin to break through into the squad, but he doesn’t look the quickest to me, he’s still young and has time to work on that of course. What have you thought of him so far Ed, got the basics in place to slot in nicely?

{Ed001's Note - certainly quick enough, his issue is defending, one-on-one he is awful but he can learn that, Trent has. He is nowhere near the same level as Trent like, he needs to work on his all-round game, but he has good feet and can deliver a good cross.}

Leeds did well to get promoted but I don't see them being dangerous next season. They'll be fighting for their lives.

Thanks for the info, Ed01. Carrilero, eh? Very interesting indeed.

{Ed002's Note - It is a dance, like the Camarillo Brillo.}
