Question for the eds, not sure if you would know, but was a transfer fee paid in instalments never discussed or was this not possible? I am sure this happens often and if it was a matter of cost then couldn't we have paid £30 million now and the rest later. or would RBL not go for this?

As well as this, surely a discussion of a fee and a player swap could have been another idea? I. e 20/ 30 million plus Shaqiri or Origi.

I understand that clubs see players at a lower value, however the price for Timo is already a lower value then he is actually worth! Easily a 70 mill player going for almost a quarter of that price.

I need to get over it I know!

As I said Ed, I need to get over it! He was a player I wanted at LFC for a while now and I am just trying to see (if it was a money issue) why we couldn't work a way around it if we really wanted him.

I find it interesting we didn't even make an offer in the end.

Let them have him, it's no big deal really is it? they have a player who's heart wanted to be with Liverpool. Imagine signing someone who wished he was elsewhere? unfortunately for Chelsea they have exactly that! Good luck to the lad, I wish him the best, he seems sound.

He wouldn’t of got in the team. I don’t blame him for signing for Chelsea, good luck to him. He would’ve been a decent sub no doubt, but We need a higher calibre of player to improve this Liverpool team.

I understand the club behaves irresponsibly. It makes me think slightly differently about klopp so thanks for bringing it up Ed002, but you don’t half sound like a miserable old man these days. Been on this site for about 6 years now an this is maybe my second post. I felt I had to write something because your contempt for Klopp and Liverpool is getting really boring. I know you have to deal with idiot fans all day everyday but you’re the editor and this is a banter page. You don’t have to constantly remind us how awful our club is all the time and how shimmy we are financially when we’re finally in a decent position for the first time in however long. Sometimes some of you guys sound like only LFC and ManC count as bona fide teams. Chelsea is a top EPL team and have the silverware to prove it. It's not like Werner is carrying out professional suicide by joining them, after all. Liverpool didn't make an offer but Chelsea did. They got their man. And to me it also means Liverpool didn't want him or sort out the requirements to get him.

We will win the league with players who were the second choice of klopp in salah and tapped up in Vvd. who cares. I don't and I doubt any other fan will. it's a good time to be a liverpool supporter. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Kinda shocked to see people just OK with the fact we constantly keep breaking rules and keep messing players around. What happens when we get a transfer ban, or get punished financially, or players suddenly costing double because of how much we keep 'back dooring'.
Professionalism is core in everything, and we seem to be massively lacking.

Looks like ACONF is going ahead in Jan which could cause lfc issues so missing out on Werner could come back to bit.

It is what it is tho. We can’t buy unless we sell and we don’t have any sales lined up after C.V..

It's a bit more than 'behaving irresponsibly'. It's willfully breaking the rules, getting caught and effectively having to buy Southampton off (van Dijk), and now apparently we've not learned our lesson and are at it again.

It's not good enough from the club or Klopp. You admit that without ceasing to support Liverpool FC. If it was going around these pages that Man U had tapped up Fernandes and were now suspected of tapping up another player we'd be calling for a transfer ban.

From what I understand Lampard ‘phoned Werner daily’ before an offer was made or contact was made with RBL. It’s fine to say that Klopp is a cheat but let’s put it into context with the rest of the PL. If every manager was to be sacked for tapping up a player there literally would be no managers left in the PL.

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure if he phoned him daily but Chelsea first spoke with his club at Christmas and obtained permission to speak with the player - that is how it should be done. Why are you embarrassing yourself and the club further over Klopp cheating?}

This is not about any other manager nor any other club in the PL, La Liga or wherever. This is about Klopp and his penchant for tapping up players he wants to sign hence breaking the rules and nothing more.

Whatever Chelsea did or did not do regarding Werner, it does not remove from the fact that Klopp refuses to learn his lessons and stop tapping up players and pissing off other clubs. End of story. Maybe if we focused on that instead of always dragging other things and other clubs/ managers into this, we would get somewhere. Just saying.

We would get somewhere! What, like 22 points clear of Man City with 9 games left and champions of Europe. Klopp is a legend. We would be nowhere without him. I couldn’t care less if he calls players. He’s not the only one. Completely understand why Ed02 detests it but Klopp isn’t here to fight his own corner and give his side so we are only hearing one side of the story anyway and only ever will. Enjoy the league win and don’t let anything taint it. Christ it’s been 30 years so I think we deserve to be happy and celebrate in this sht environment.
