I don't get all the negativity with Dembele. Yes he has had a few bad injury's But does anyone remember the way he played at Dortmund? I'm sure Klopp would get the best out of him. Incidentally Ed, would Dembele be affordable for us then if he accepted to leave Barca?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, I would think so.}

Exactly what I've been saying! Yes I get the injuries this last 18 months are a worry. And attitude issues potentially. But if Klopp and the coaches etc got him fit and focused. As you say you have potentially an amazing player on your hands! I even remember a few games and goals when he first was at Barcelona he was unbelievable! Rapid speed and change of direction, dribbling. And saw a stat he ha scored and assisted the same amount for club and country with his right and left foot! A great ability to have and very difficult for defenders to show a player onto a weak foot. Also only turned 23 last month!

When fit he is as good as mbappe. He is technically first class. Excellent pace and beats the man in front 9 out of ten times. He is a superb dribbler as well. scored goals for fun at BVB before moving to Barca.
I high doubt if we could afford his wages unless Barcelona agree to pay some portion of it.

Where to start with this.

Injuries. He’s had multiple hamstring injuries. Not one or two, but multiple injuries that have kept him from playing for long periods of time and are of the nature that in the long term will seriously impact on his ability to perform as he will lose a lot of his pace and given that pace is a massive part of his game, he’d be a busted flush from the start. Buying him would be the same mistake as Alberto Aquilani was from Roma.

Attitude. His lifestyle is not becoming of a professional footballer, he eats badly, he doesn’t rest, refuses to listen to coaches and managers, on multiple occasions he’s been up all night prior to big matches and been unfit to perform, he's almost always late for training and his teams mates are said to be exasperated by his lack of professionalism, He is apparently known to be a a Pogba style big time Charlie.

Actual ability. Sort of player who has one good game in five. His actual output is not that good. Has only scored double figures in a league season once in his career at Rennes and the French league is notoriously weak. His goalscoring is impressive for a forward at all, although this season he has the defence of being injured, he’s not done anything before to suggest he’s anywhere near as good as he or his agent think.

There’s literally no positives to signing him.

“. scored goals for fun at BVB. ”

For avoidance of doubt and the purposes of clarification (checks notes) he scored 6 goals in the league. Harry Wilson literally outscored him this season on loan at a team in a relegation battle in less games.

And you know this to be true so therefore it must be
I really wish you would give people a chance to prove themselves before telling us all the stuff you have read in the papers but have no way of confirming yourself
Half of what you read is not true and the other half is so exaggerated it is untrue
Do you really think klopp would speak so highly of someone who you describe above?

His fellow pros think he’s immature and lacks professionalism. His club are desperate to get shot of him.

This is a list of his injuries in a period of less than 3 years, this is enough to avoid on its own, not withstanding his poor attitude and the fact that on three separate occasions he’s said he’s got no interest in joining us.

Hamstring Injury (17/ 09/ 17)
Hamstring Injury (15/ 01/ 18)
Ankle Injury (21/ 01/ 19)
Torn Muscle Bundle (14/ 03/ 19)
Hamstring Injury (05/ 05/ 19)
Hamstring Injury (19/ 08/ 19)
Muscle Injury (27/ 09/ 19)
Hamstring Injury (28/ 11/ 19)
Hamstring Tendon Tear (04/ 02/ 20)

6Times hates Dembele, that's been established for a couple of years now. Apparently he also has close links to the Barcelona squad as he appears to know all about his attitude and what his team mates think of him.

It’s widely publicised that a lot of his current and former team mates have questioned his commitment and professionalism. He’s said to be led by his ‘entourage’ who apparently aren’t the sort of people a professional athlete should be hanging around with.

We’ve already had one manchild in the form of Balotelli who we lost time and money over. I’ve no wish for us to waste more time and money on another.

I agree Thunderbird, but his injury record is for all to see. It doesn't look pretty.

Half of the squad we purchased weren’t saint 6 times. Sadio Mane? I wouldn’t worry about his stinking attitude. Mbappe and Neymar are notorious for their antics as well! Would you not have them 😅😅😅
Dembele is a proper winger. Not my choice but fits the bill.

Talented player, but injuries and expensive. It makes no sense for us to sign Dembele when the club has always said they won't offer large wages, especially for what could be just a squad player.

Sadio Mane was unfairly tarnished for one occasion when he threw a strop about being refused a transfer to Man United, so that’s false equivalency of the highest order. You couldn’t accuse him of not being anything but professional in the way he looks after himself.

For the record I’d not want Neymar or Mbappe because of the circus that follows those clowns.

Proper winger? He’s barely a professional footballer, let’s not go giving him names he can’t live up to.

{Ed001's Note - actually he also did the same to get a move to Southampton in the first place.}

I would still differentiate that behaviour to the kind of nonsense that follows players like Neymar, Mbappe, Pogba, Dembele etc.

{Ed001's Note - Mbappe? Are you for real?}

Sorry, Dembele is a very talented player, one Klopp wanted so it's not like he came out of nowhere even tho, I think he may have moved on from him. That said, Dembele is simply dreadful off the field. He has a terrible to wretched attitude, his lifestyle sucks (hence, his useless injury record), turns up late to training (if he turns up at all) and is a true piece of work. Why do we have to deal with such rubbish when Barcelona themselves, want nothing to do with him?

I mean there's a reason he is still at Barca. No one is going to pay the 90m plus they are looking for to get a player with so many issues. Sorry, I don't want Dembele anywhere near LFC. Barcelona deserve a player with such a wretched attitude cos really, their dressing room have quite a few of them.

I’m curious 6times.

Why do you feel the need to troll every post about a signing you’re not keen on? We all hear your opinion loud and clear.

You also did the same when we were linked with the Ox and laughed at the suggestion he considered himself a CM, derided it for him continously.

You’ve also admitted to thinking Wiji was a shocking purchase at the time. Given the egg on your face for these 2, are you not willing to concede you might be wrong again? I’m not saying you are, but maybe temper it a little.

I think reality is that only the professionals know what it takes, who they need, do they fit? The rest of us only talk a good game.

Part of the reason Sakho was originally shipped off by Klopp was his attitude. Consistently being late/ skipping training, not to secure a move, just utter unprofessionalism. Dembele is famous for it at Barcelona.

Also attitude aside he hasn't played consistently well in years and has had massive injury problems. Why spend serious money on him?
