I have heard from a friend that knows people who work for many premier league clubs that the season will continue in June where every game is to be played in St. James Park. Teams will stay in various hotels within the area and train in various training facilities in the area also. There would be in 3/ 4 games a day which would all be televised.

{Ed002's Note - There is no agreement at this time and it is St Georges Park that is proposed for the games.

Ed002, doesn't St. George's park have about 6 or 7 football pitches? They could play games simultaneously if they were to be held there. Or am I thinking of somewhere else?

{Ed002's Note - Yes it has a number of pitches and I guess there could be games played simultaneously - perhaps two. You would need ball boys of course as there are no real stands. But there is a lot of resistance.}

Thanks Ed002, I thought that was the place.

They could just have a huge bag with about 200 footballs in it then whizz round in a milk float afterwards and pick them all up.

{Ed002's Note - They would all be gone after 20 minutes with Lovren playing.}

A lot of resistance to St Georges Park or just returning general?

{Ed002's Note - Both.}

Ed02, is the resistance to playing at this venue linked with the fears of fans showing up to games or is it linked to other reasons? Cheers, man.

{Ed002's Note - No, the resons The FA proposed this and Wembley were because they were easy to police and it would nominally be easier to protect the players, although the medical advice in respect of testing players if rushing through all these games is that the incubation period for the virus would not be up before the next game would be played. The resistance relates primarily to loss of home advantage.}

Thanks Ed. Seeing early reports in the press that all teams have at least agreed that they want the season to finish subject to the government announcement due next Thursday - how true is that? I thought there were a growing number of clubs who wanted it finished now.

{Ed002's Note - There are no changes in the proposed dates - if it is possible to meet those dates then everyone accepts it. However, next Thursday will likely see isolation extended and that would likely compromise dates - and any later dates are likely not viable. It did not achieve anything useful. There was no vote over the grounds which will become an issue. There is still no plan on how to end early if that is needed.}

Why on earth haven't they at least decided how to end the season if it can't be completed?

{Ed002's Note - I agree, but a subject they are staying clear of.}

I think lockdown will be extended on 7th but Boris will layout his next phase plan that’ll start in June that may or may not be able to mean they can plan for June prem restart.

Businesses that can reopen or return to work will need the time to put the measures in place for social distancing.

So they have gone with the bury our head in the sand approach. I thought a government official was involved in this meeting? So if they are waiting, they are just kicking the can then when Boris makes an announcement next week they can act like it’s out of their hands. Poor decision making and the lack of a contingency plan highlights that.

{Ed002's Note - You have misunderstood something clearly.}

My apologies Ed002, thought I’d read somewhere a government official was involved.

Let's hope his next phase plan is not as disastrous as his first phase, another 750 odd dead today 27k in total. And lads think football will be back.

Would the home advantage be play/ pitch, the atmosphere (without fans, or the travel?

{Ed002's Note - Travel is unimportant.}

Personally think all the games should be at St. James Gate ;)

ed2 couple questions regarding the premier league -

- they seem determined to finish the 2019-20 season. Is there an absolute final date that they must have the season completed by? And, I'd be interested to hear in your opinion why they are staying away from discussing how to end the season early?

{Ed002's Note - (a) Nominally the end of July. (b) I suspect because there is no solution that will keep everyone happy.}
