I understand how rubbishty the furlough of staff at the club is. I am not defending it. I want to point out that Disney has furloughed all Executives and Salaried staff. That company makes 8 billion a quarter. They are not going to oa yuh the rest of their cast after the 18th.

I worked for Disney for 8 years and have many close friends with families who are out of work for the foreseeable future. It sucks.
But the majority understand that this is necessary evil right now.
It's just my two cents.

I also greatly understand how fortunate I am to not be furloughed and able to work. Very blessed.

Stay safe everyone, and hopefully w e will be back to normal soon

420 you do realise that the tax we all pay will go up do you mind paying much more tax for Walt Disney's bank account to remain in the millions possibly more? the truth of the matter is these MASSIVE companies could carry the burden for a year without it really affecting the top line in the bank account I know I am happy for my taxes to help the unfortunate but these companies are taking advantage of a scheme to help businesses that will struggle during this time can you imagine if the government withdraw the furlough because multimillion pound companies are taking advantage.

I watched my wife furlough her whole staff and herself, in tears last week, via video meeting.

The company was very successful and was midway through buying out the VC company that helped set it up.

This is the type of firm furlough was designed for not one of the biggest football clubs in the world.

Berg you are correct the monies will be recovered but i noted a between the lines comment that some may have missed, self employed that either pay none or minimal tax will be levied on the same rate as employed once this ends.

That will be an area that a lot will be recovered from. Not to suggest all employed won't be expected to pay more as they will but the above will be the first area explored for recovery.

Berg our taxes already subsidize the large corporations in the states. I am actually in favor of Disney using this method. It will ensure that they will be able to open again. It will ensure that the 60000 who work there will have jobs to go back to. It will ensure that the tax revenue generated will return. In this instance Ibthink they did it right as all Executives took a pay cut, Salaried cast was furloughed first.
