Emre can take a bow son what a goal
I would say that one beats the bicycle kick at QPR
Hope it goes well for him at Dortmund always liked him as a player.

Sebastian Coates scored the bicycle kick at QPR. Can got his vs Watford mate.

Me too Johncrow. And I think he'd be good in this team. I imagine he would've improved like every player klopp works with. Scored a few worldies eh.

I liked Can but he is just too slow. Klopp may have improved him but still think Fabinho is way better.

Err Robbie, Can WAS in this team and was deemed not good enuf (hence, could not improve us, per klopp) to command the wages and game time guarantees he was looking for so Klopp let him go.

With that in mind, how can you say he would have improved like any other player under Klopp (which he didn't hence, he got let go) for this team whereas he WAS part of this team and got let go cos he could not hack it in a Klopp system? Those two things simply cannot be correct at the same time, IMO. Please, explain. Peace and Love.

Klopp did not let Can go. Can ran down his contract. I'm pretty certain Klopp wanted to keep Can.

I know Klopp wanted to keep him, but I always felt that Can's problem was he wasn't good enough at any one part of his game to nail down one position in the team.

He's a big lad who can put in a tackle, but he doesn't read the game well enough to be the DM, so Klopp used Henderson there instead. Technically quite decent, has played some tasty passes in his time, but not on a consistent basis. So he couldn't be relied on to link the midfield to the front three. Klopp preferred Lallana and later Ox in that role instead. Could've been the box to box man instead of Gini, I suppose, but whilst he lacks Can's physicality, Gini's much better in tight spaces and when being pressured.

So he was always going float from role to role in our midfield as other players needed to be rested. If he'd still been here when Fabs arrived, which in turn gave us more options with Hendo, I think he'd have dropped out of regular contention anyway.

I still think he was player who could play anywhere but not a starter at any position. He was probably the best cover player money can buy. Rb cb dm mid am.
But he is not a starter in any top team. That's the problem.

For me it was Can’s consistency. He has the talent for sure but he couldn’t maintain top level every game.

Yeah Irish said it. Can ran his contract down and back then we were top 4 hopefuls, not world champs. I prefer hendo, gini and fab but he was decent. He would have got better with us.

Can also had a very good run in the team when Hendo was injured and acquitted himself very well playing at a very good level getting us a top 4 spot if my memory is correct.

Saying that, I sort of agree that he didn't really have a definite position in the team, sometimes even filling in a right back and centre back as well.
