ed001 I don't watch much if any of the under23 football. I was wondering has Curtis Jones all ways been highly or has there been a massive improvement over the last few years with him. Because I have heard so much about Foden at city and for me watching the 2 Jones looks the better prospect as it looks like Foden size will hold him back while Jones all ready standing 6feet+ he does look build for the modern game. and with Williams Elliott van den Bergand and Brewster. they look like a great group of young players for the future.

{Ed001's Note - Foden has received much more hype, but Jones has also been highly regarded all the way through. Just no one has ever said anything ludicrously idiotic like "he is the best player I have ever coached" about him.}

Ed1, do you see Jones and N. Williams having a larger role in the first team next season? I'm not getting ahead of myself after 1 game, but with the potential of Lallana and Shaqiri leaving, and FB cover being an area of need, I'm curious to know if you see their trajectory heading that way.

{Ed001's Note - I certainly expect Williams to get more games as cover for Trent but Jones could well go out on loan. I am not sure what the plan is for him, but it might be sensible for him to have a year of regular football.}

Well, Ed001, Guardiola has been quoted as saying "he is the most talented player I have ever seen" (talking about Foden) . I was very surprised when I read that, given that Guardiola had been watching Messi develop from his Second Divison "B" team days. And I've watched Foden play. Still nowhere near what Messi was doing at the same age.

{Ed001's Note - he is nowhere near a lot of players, it was a nonsense when Pep said that.}

Thanks Ed!

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

I'm sure even Pep did not believe that rubbish he said about Foden and he prolly knew nobody with any sense would believe that judging by the amount of gifted players he has coached in his career. And if he does believe that then he is more deluded than I could have ever imagined.

I think a loan for the lad is best . He’s a real talent but playing u23 is no good and he can’t play every week with the 1st team (yet) so maybe a loan to a good championship team that like to play attacking football . Maybe derby/ Swansea or dare I say a year up at rangers under Gerrard tasting European football as well as a load of physical stuff in the spl would surely get him physically up to the challenge.

Would have thought he would go to a bottom half premier league team.

I would love to see him have a year with Rangers he will play in Europe then and would have to get use to the pressure of playing for a top team in there country.

I know if I used football index I’d be stocking up in Neco Williams shares. Definitely the one I’m most excited about. Jones and Elliot aren’t bad either, mind you.

Personally I’d rather see him just take Lallana or Shaiqiris spot (assuming one of those moves on) and for Klopp to give him game time in cups, against lower league sides etc. and get him integrated ASAP.

Some players definitely need loans and game time to mature, but a few special cases (like Trent, and I believe Jones) it’s possible to integrate straight into the squad. A loan for him just risks him being mismanaged and losing momentum, whereas being around Hendo, Gini, Ox etc. and playing the odd game would be better for him IMO and we’ll have a need next season.

If Leeds get promoted a full Premier League season under Bielsa would be great for Curtis Jones I feel.
