Friendly one to move on from the recent madness.

Anyone remember their first football boots or the first football shirt they ever had?

I had a pair of Adidas pretadors that a mate gave me that were a good 2 sizes too small and then the first pair I bought were Total 90 boots that Ronaldhino wore, they were a good 2 sizes too big and I had to stuff socks into the end of them!

First shirt was the Liverpool 97-98 home kit which I still have to this day and get one of my kids to wear on match day for good luck!

My first pair of football boots were in the late 60's, Baghdad, Iraq. No brands; Nike was not even born, but I recall Adidas and Puma were. But we couldn't afford them even then. So we went to the local shoemaker and had a custom pair made in leather. The cleats were in wood. Attached to the sole of the shoe with nails that went from the bottom up into the sole. Yes I felt the sharp end of the nails sometimes. What I remember is that i gave a few guys bleeding shins if i mistimed kicks or tackles and caught them instead with my cleats.

This brings back sad and happy memories!
Get the 🎻 out😂

My first pair of boots were rugby boots handed down to my by my posh cousin. Full on over the ankle boots with metal studs. I had to try and hide them from the ref.

My first shirt was bought for me by my now wife when we first met. I actually cried when she gave it to me 💪.
It was a white Adidas training top with red crest and green Carlsberg logo.

I hadn’t had a shirt growing up, I lived with 3 women who didn’t know anything about football. My dad lived abroad and had grown up in South Africa only knowing rugby.
I remember going to a county training session once in my school PE kit, about 12 years old. As the senior coach handed over to the fella who was taking our group he told him “just pick the kids with the proper kit on - it means their parents actually give a crap”.
Still makes me angry!

Also anyone else have to suffer girls’ hockey shin pads? 🤦‍♂️.

First shirt I had was given to me by my next door neighbour when I was 7 and is the reason I support liverpool. Was the 1987/ 88 shirt with crown paints but the a n and t were missing from paints. First new shirts I had was silver Candy shirt and the England Italia 90 shirt.
As for boots can't remember the first ones I had but distinctly remember having a pair of Lottos early 90s when Italian football was all the rage and also remember having a pair of Liverpool trainers probably in 90/ 91.

For me it was the away yellow Crown Paints kit, I remember it came in a box with Graeme Souness on the front of the box, I was made up I think I was 8 years old. Boot's all I can remember they where black unlike my current Nike which are white with the Orange Nike logo on, luckily for me I am half decent.

I got a pair of Gola mouldies (moulded studs, not screw-ins) for my 6th birthday in 1976. First shirt was the entire kit for the '77 season. V-neck Umbro kit with yellow stitched Liver Bird and yellow Umbro logo on the shirt and shortes.
There's a rather gruesome story associated with it which I'll divulge if asked.

I am lot older than a lot of you boys my first boots were Called top dog you could wear them as safety boots for work today bid toe cap over your ankles leather studs they were like running on the pitch in hob nailed boots . The shin pads were no better plastic with thin pieces of wood to protect your shins .

But most of the time pieces of cardboard shoved down your socks murder if it rained soggy socks aw those were the days boys you could tackle from any position you could challenge the keeper the ref didn’t no the rules half the time and you had to break someone’s leg to get a pen the ball was like a cannon ball with a lace in it you headed the ball and caught the lace on your forehead you looked like Frankenstein but at least no VAR.

First boots I’m pretty sure handed down from by brother, fairly sure they were ‘Patrick’ with metal studs I think.

First shirt was a red crown paints 1983 kit. handed down again.

The yellow crown paints away kit was the first bought for me. Socks and shorts as well. Wore it for every PE lesson!

Wow. I remember this guy came to our school. He was the coach of the best kids team in town (not Liverpool) I was the only guy from my school who made the cut.

We were pretty poor growing up and the team had this scheme where they would buy us a top pair of boots and we made up for it with 50p extra subs a week.

Mine were black nikes, with a pink tick. They were so cool. Old school screw on studs. I used to get the old dubbin out after a match. Loved them boots.

Great question. Almost made me smell apple pie and petrol on a crisp autumn school night. Fish and chips and a fading sky.

Can’t remember my first shirt but I remember having a silver and red Liverpool training tracksuit, and a black “gaffers” coat that was bloody massive on me. Was probably and adult small and I was 11 so pretty much went all the way down to my feet! I absolutely loved that coat.

Short version is.
my uncle was coming round and despite him being a Leeds supporter, I wanted to show off my kit as I was so excited.
At the time, I had a thing, were I jumped off the 4th stair up to the hall when running down the stairs. I heard him knock and I ran downstairs in the kit. no shoes on mind you.
My mum had been vacuuming the hall carpet (even though it had one of those transparent plastic runners on it) . She had left the vacuum unplugged. I jumped. didn't see the upturned plug. landed straight down on it. in it went.
Luckily the socks were red so you couldn't see the blood stains.

First shirt was the 92 away green Adidas with 3 white stripes over the shoulder, a beautiful kit and I've it framed now on my bedroom wall and the bonus of having Ronnie Whelan signature on the chest also.
