Congratulations to the boys and Mr. Klopp for winning the "International Treble" this year - Champions League, Super Cup and the World Club Championship. Don't know if any other team (s) have done it before, but it looks like one heck of an achievement to me. And certainly one that is worthy of the history books. The boys are making history, once again.

Aray. We're definitely the first English team to achieve it. I'm not so sure about foreign teams. I wouldn't be surprised if Real Madrid did it during their consecutive World Club Cup wins.

Did Madrid not do it 3 times consecutively?

Steady on chaps, these cups don’t count according to most rival fans and Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - they do count if you are desperate for a trophy mate, myself i would count the carabao cup higher than the thingy cup where you only played 2 teams virgil but maybe thats just me..

Well we ain’t desperate Ed025 mate as we have plenty of trophy’s but come on let’s not say the Carabou is higher placed than the CWC?

I get it, it’s because we have won 3 European trophy’s one a few months that people are trying to dismiss them. Same people that count the Charity shield and Carabou as a major trophy.

{Ed025's Note - the CWC and the charity shield are about on the same par for me virgil, playing one and two games respectively does not constitute much of a competition to me...but thats just an opinion mate..

Back on our perch.

Ed25, I agree to an extent. The only 2 "trophies" I don't count is the Charity/ Community Shield cos it is nothing but a glorified preseason game. As for the Carabooboo Cup? Not arsed, either.
As for the CWC or the Super Cup, I have always counted them (for decades, really) as real trophies cos well, you actually have to qualify for them by actually winning a REAL trophy like the CL or Europa League (Super Cup) or the CL or the continent's equivalent (CWC) . So begs the question: How can a trophy be a "Desperate Cup" if you actually have to qualify for it by winning a big trophy? Please, explain. Peace!

{Ed025's Note - but its only a by-product of winning the main trophy RM, the CL and europa take some winning and it takes consistency over a long period to win them, one off games are a bit of a lottery for me and i see the CWC as a money making scheme rather than a genuinely serious award...but hey thats just my take mate..

It's a tough one, Liverpool were expected to play 2 games on different continents within 24 hours, so something had to give. The CWC is looked down on by Europe but it was regarded as a major trophy for Flamenco, who were desperate to win.
While I agree its not the hardest trophy to win, Liverpool may not get another shot at it for years. The Caraboo cup is there every year but the CWC is not. Sacrificing the Caraboo cup this season was the right thing to do.
Football is business now and winning the CWC will be far better for Liverpool than winning the Caraboo cup.

How are we even comparing the Carabou cup to the club World Cup? The league cup in its many guises has been in decline for years with no one caring who wins it.
The CWC is the best club teams from each continent! No comparison for me.

There is no comparison. Blackpool are never going to play in the cwc, but they will the league Cup.

I reckon the pros know better than me and they chose the cwc, even though we had a great chance of we inning the league cup.

Ed25, I’m sure when players look back on their career and show off their medals I’m sure they would be pretty proud of a CWC medal and be able to say we were the best team in the world at that time. as opposed to winning a pre season charity shield friendly.

{Ed025's Note - you could be right swish, but for me they are just about as relevant as each other mate..

8 league cups, 1 world club cup. I know which one is harder to win.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely, the league cup takes about 6 games to get to trhe final, whereas the thingy cup you get off the plane and basically your in the final L8..

Ed25, whatever happens, Divock Origi is the Everton slayer lol

On a serious note, it depends on what you prioritize really. Every cup is an opportunity for silverware. Most english clubs won't care about CWC because most of them never have the opportunity to win it.

{Ed025's Note - thats a fair comment faith, the last bit i mean of course...i still think divock is a big galoot who is one very lucky guy to be earning a living playing football mate..

To win the CWC, you only have to play 2 games? NO. You have to play 38 league games to get top 4. You have to play 6 CL games in the group stage. You have to play and beat Bayern, Barcelona and Spurs to win the CL, before you even get to play those last 2 games. No comparison to the league cup.

{Ed025's Note - nah cymru your fudging the issue, the reward for winning the CL is old big ears...a premium trophy, what next? do you play the winners of the stanley cup for the super duper whooper trophy?, or the winner of the grand national for the super duper all england mega cup?..come on mate get a grip..

14.) 23 Dec 2019
23 Dec 2019 12:17:30
Ed025, you'd love it if Everton won the Super Duper Whooper Trophy and you would definitely call it a major cup and you know this deep down inside. Probably get a tattoo of it too :D.

{Ed025's Note - i dont do body art polecat, but at the moment i would take the johnsons paint trophy mate...any port in a storm.. :)

Ed025. Tell the Brazilians that the club world Cup is as big as the charity sheild. That's a crazy assessment.

It wasn't really two games, we had to win the Champions league to get there, beating Barcelona, bayern Munich and Porto wasn't it?

We were representing Europe, and we done em proud, bringing back the trophy.

{Ed025's Note - brazilians dont have a charity shield robbie, they have the CWC as their end of season money spinner mate..

16.) 23 Dec 2019
23 Dec 2019 17:32:16
it's a by-product of winning the main CL trophy. We didn't win the World Cup just by winning two games. We won it by beating PSG, Red Star, Napoli, Bayern Munich, FC Porto, BARCELONA, Spurs, Monterey and Flamengo. That's the champions of France, Serbia, Germany, Portugal, Spain, North / Central America and South America.

I actually like the idea of this trophy and think it should be given more credit than many cynical English pundits afford it. Okay the Community Shield and Euro Super Cup are showpiece one-off games but the CWC means more for me. And of course Ed it would be ridiculous if we had to play four or more games against teams from around the world to win the thing.

I think English fans and media esp. (Spanish and Italian teams take this CWC and Super Cup trophies seriously) does not take these comps. seriously due to their pathetic smug attitude to trophies they can't win hence, they project their smugness onto everybody else and say "Nobody really cares". After all, only LFC and Utd have won the CWC. I call BS on that one, IMO.

Barca and Real Madrid or Ac Milan, Juve and Inter take this trophy seriously and played their starting lineups each time they played in them esp. the CWC. So are English teams now better than these big time clubs I mentioned? As I mentioned, only two English clubs have won both the CWC and Super Cups so it is normal for other fans of other clubs denigrate them cos their clubs ain't winning the CL or Europa League anytime soon. Just my opinion.
