Ed's with Liverpool confirming Critchley will be in charge of the team against Villa in the Quarters v Villa would you think this means that the majority if not all of the first team squad will be going to the CWC to try and win it? And that's Klopp sees the CWC as more important over the Carabou?

{Ed001's Note - I don't think that is even a worthwhile question, the League Cup is bottom of the tree in every aspect now. If the Club World Cup was not mid-season in Qatar it would be a huge deal. As it is, it is a pain in the arse, but only because of having to go out there mid-season and have to spend the rest of the season catching up fixtures.}

On a positive with having to catch up klopp might be able to rest players knowing what we need to do points wise.

Ok mate fair enough, I get that the CWC is just a distraction we could of done with out, was just trying to establish what sort of squads we can expect in both games. I guess we will see.

Knowing man utd sacrificed the fa cup to win it (which they didn’t) is reason enough for me to be excited about it.

From a business perspective, weighing up the merits of both competitions, trying for the FIFA CWC is by far the better title to aim for. More kudos/ exposure for LFC on a World stage plus the gulf in prize money is huge - Carabao cup winnings approx. £1million (with gate receipts, prize money and TV money) compared to about £5million prize money alone for the CWC.
Yes the Carabao cup gets you into the Europa League, but that's 4 games compared to 2 for the CWC which doesn't get you into a European competition, but does give the club more appeal to worldwide fans.
Plus, it's a week in a nice warm country for 5 days against, on paper, weak teams. Though if we get to play Flamengo, they do like to play tough.

On your doorstep Ed. you going?

{Ed001's Note - it is not on my doorstep mate and the two countries are not on good terms. Qatar are not liked here. Or most of the area for that matter, which is why Zamalek are considering withdrawing from the CAF Super Cup which is due to be played there.}

As a kid, I used to watch the old Intercontinental Cup between the CL and Cop Libertadores winners and I found them quite entertaining. I remeber watching the edition btw Sao Paolo (with Cafu and Rai) vs Barcelona team of Stoichkov and it was a brilliant game. Rai scored a brace (the winner off a brilliant free kick) after Stoichkov opened the scoring off a delightful 25 yard chip and I have been hooked ever since. I want us to go out there and do our best to win it cos well, we are already in it even tho the midseason sceduling is a pain in the backside.

It's a trophy we have never won before. Let's give it a good go, call ourselves world champions and add another cup to the wall at Mel Wood.

Here in Qatar, we are super-excited to have the boys here for the Club World Cup. Changed my holiday plans because of it.

The tickets for the semis and the finals sold out as soon as they went on sale. I've got friends and family coming from as far away as Australia to watch our boys play. My kids can't wait to go to their first LFC game - they're busy creating their own flags and banners.

Throw in an outdoor music festival with Katy Perry, Maroon 5 and others, and it promises to be a rollicking good time!

Walter's last few posts have been unusually un-negative. I'm suspicious.
