Completely agree with your sentiments on Wijnaldum Ed001, he was absolutely everywhere. Great game.
Him and Henderson put in so much graft, then Fabinho balances the three with composure and providing an oversight from behind them.
I’ve totally had enough of VAR though.

{Ed001's Note - it is ruining the game, I get fed up watching other teams' games and struggle to maintain interest now.}

Nice way to relive the win. City's signings seem to be on a 3 year project while ours looks more like a 5 year plan. And we are now over taking them.

I listened to 606 and was stunned by city fans reaction. No one could admit liverpool were the better team. All pointed to the ghost handball. I don't buy it. To exaggerate on eds explanation. Trent tries to get his body in the way of the original cross. It was the deflection from silva's handball (attacker handball in away box - free kick) that moved the ball to tents arm.

Liverpool fans get a bad rep but City fans are like spoilt brats who can't remember what losing is like. J heard none of them say what a sweet hit fabs shot was. Of course they had a lot of the ball. They have a team of technically brilliant players but we have a team of intelligent players. Dominating possession means nothing if you lose 3 1.

I totally agree about lovren. Was his best game for a long time. The kind of performance that could see him get back in the first team regularly. And gini was outstanding. Those goals against Barcelona seem to have transformed him. He is keeping keita out of the team and is now one of the first names on the team sheet I imagine.

Cheers Ed01. A great day for Liverpool FC.

Brilliant read, Ed. Your first couple of paragraphs regarding City's and Pep's arrogance was music to my eyes. You have cracked the code. Pep is under IMMENSE pressure now and as you said in his prev. jobs, he normally jumps ship before the heat is on. Now, he is staring down the barrel of abject failure, by his standards. I once saw a City fan/ journalist say that Pep's biggest fear is losing the next game and based on his antics before, during and after the game, you can see why. We'll see what happens.

Regarding the game, City were decent BUT they were weak in key in midfield as you pointed out where we dominated them physically and positionally. Sure they had possession BUT with Klopp, that could be by design. Our movement and constantly evolving systems must have been doing their heads in cos it looked like they did not know who to pick up esp. when Hendo would alternate with Mo as a true right winger.

As for Sterling, I see the media and some LFC fans on SM saying he had a good game and did TAA a fair bit. IMO, I don't see that at all cos TAA was on top of him all game and only got his chances when Angelino became the spare man on the overload. Also, Sterling is a cheat for trying to get guys sent off or booked and trying to steal a pen off TAA. Either way, I thought TAA was brilliant offensively and defensively. Peace!

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate.}

That second block from Lovren whilst lying on the floor. Epitomises how hard we defended and didn’t give up. Boys really did me proud. After watching Leicester the day before I said we would win if we were clinical with our finishing like Leicester were against Arsenal. And boy weren’t we just!

Brilliant review that Ed001 so many great points on the tactical side of the match . Klopp has definitely got Pep rattled . As much as our quite simply sublime movements pleased me the Alisson to Trent cross field ball to Robertson perfect cross to Mo goal for instance . There was sideshow moments to savour too Pep having a visible meltdown was hilarious, Virgil putting Jesus on his arse with his arse, Gomez rattling Sterling's cage and Milner just calmly walking over having a word with Joe and Robertson with Walker just smirking at him with that cheeky look, happy days .

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

Thanks ed! Completely agree with the handball part, but leads me to think it should have been stopped at the Trent arm for a free kick to Liverpool.

Also, they say you can’t gain an advantage with your arm and score from it - considering it was 22 seconds later in surprised they didn’t use that as a reason to disallow the goal!

{Ed001's Note - that was probably why it took so long, as they were combing the rulebooks to see if they could find a reason to disallow it.}

Regarding possession, until around the 60 minute mark we were still dominating the ball and City just kept giving it back to us. They only got a foothold once Hendo came off and Klopp changed the system ( dropped Firmino deeper) . City were totally outclassed in all aspects of the game including possession.

Hey ed001, why does Aguero struggle so much at Anfield? Has it become a psychological thing by now or is it just a coincidence that he can't score against us at Anfield?

{Ed001's Note - psychological in part, you could see how tense he was and trying too hard, so he was not kicking naturally and fluently. Also he did not get the kind of chances he normally gets, which didn't help him.}

Thanks Ed, brilliant as always. We seem to have a plan for every kind of opposition nowadays it’s just surreal. What’s strikes me is how calm we were under their press; people talk about teams being “press resistant” and all that. Do you feel we’re up there mate as the best in avoiding the press?

{Ed001's Note - yes because we can always go long very easily with the pace up top, so it makes it almost impossible to press effectively.}

Long couple of weeks indeed, got 3 important tests to get ready for and no football? kill me now lol.

{Ed001's Note - tests? Have you gone back to school?}
