The match on Sunday should be treated as a final. If we manage to win, City will be deflated and nine points would be difficult to claw back if we keep performing the way we are at the moment.

Our biggest mistake last year was not going all out for the win v city at home. Even though a draw wouldn’t be a disaster I think with our hectic upcoming schedule we may need a nine point advantage.

If a team like city can drop 9 points over the course of 10,11 or 12 games then I don’t think it’s impossible for any other team to do so. A 9 point advantage is nothing in this league.

This time last year city came to anfield and were happy to sit back and share possession with us. This Sunday they'll feel like they have to come looking desperately for the win so I hope we can hurt them if we bring our good pressing game and counter attack on their shaky defence. There's still over 25 games left to play though so nothing will be decided this week like the media will inevitably exaggerate. We could have easily dropped 5 points this week so even a possible 9 point lead at this stage is far from deciding anything.

Hi 1jj, Our biggest mistake last year was too many drawn games, when you play your biggest rivals over two games you have to take a minimum of four points from the six available.

When we go away for World Club Tournament soon we could be playing "Catch Up" when we return i.e. City may have leap frogged us. Its a Marathon not a Sprint we have two thirds of a season to go yet, as they say in "Thunderbirds" anything can happen in the next five minutes and usually does.

I think its about time the VAR officials names are made available before the game, we can then see if there is a pattern emerging? they name the Referee and Lines Women/ Men before the match is played so the VAR Officials should be made known as well, the audio talk between Ref and VAR officials should also be broadcast while reviewing incidents as well, what have they got to hide? let's all be honest and open instead of shrouding ourselves in secrecy.

Our fixture schedule is no worse than city's coming up to Christmas, . Well be practically playing the same number of games and on paper the run of league opponents for city is much tougher than ours. City have been screwed in a period where they play Leicester and wolves over 3 days after Christmas while our schedule sees us playing those 2 matches over 5 days. We don't need to have a 9 point gap at all. Even if city catch up to us at some point soon I won't be panicking at all. I'm backing us to pick up more points than city from now until the new year, they're being exposed by the weaker sides so with them yet to play all the big6 teams and also leicester in the next few weeks their defence will be tested much more than they have been in last 2 seasons. If we avoid defeat on Sunday I'l be satisfied but even if they close the gap to 3 points Il still feel confident that we're good enough to pull away from them at any point.

Psychologically it was huge that we matched cities late comeback this week as that would have been a huge lift for them if we had dropped points just before we played them. That mentality and character we showed to grab the win was a deflating blow to them id imagine.

We don't face them again until April which I'm glad of. The timing of our away fixture last year couldn't have been worse, just at the point after we opened a 7 point lead and they knew that was a must win. We're at anfield this time and I'm sure klopp and the players will want to show city that we're not going to give them the points like we did last year to let them halve our lead.

I really hope we show up with a strong performance and take the game to them, we have to feel we can open up that defence of theirs with relentless attacks and bring the game to them.

Fully agree, Har_red92. City have been dealt a massive blow with that Mane winner last night at the Villans. Pep seemed irritated by it after their game and talked about it hence showing once again, LFC has a 5,000 square foot Villa in his head. Pep now knows that he pretty much has to come to Anfield and go for the win cos a draw is well, as you were and that does not bode well for them based on the schedule they have which is brutal.

As for us, we are at Anfield and as it stands now, we should do all we can to win the game BUT if we can't win the game, we dare not lose it cos if we do, that's going to leave a scar. If we draw then we still have our advantage intact.

We still have a long way to go and whatever the result next Sun, will neither prove nor guarantee nothing. Take it one game at a time and we go again, me thinks.
