Haha great pic Ed sums up the use of VAR in this country, if it goes much longer u might need to set up a page just for fans to rant about VAR lol. Mind as truly terrible as the decision to rule that goal out, it's not on the same level of screw job as the Arsenal game last week.

But apart from all that another win keeps the big red machine rolling on, Genk next for another great Champions League night under the lights.

{Ed001's Note - I thought watching it live it was the most blatant piece of cheating I have ever seen. You saw him alter the lines repeatedly until he had falsified an offside position.}

Totally agree Ed I couldn't believe what I was watching! It's not even subtle what they were doing, he doctored the image til they got the picture they wanted. But because we won nothing will be made of it.

{Ed001's Note - it is clearly something that has been going on a while with VAR as well. In Spain there was a dispute with the TV company when the live pictures showed someone clearly onside but the VAR footage, which was shown 2 minutes after, showed them offside due to a line that looked completely out of skew. And there was the Real Madrid one, with a Madrid player clearly offside until they jigged around with angles and lines.}

Ed, people keep trying to swat away the corruption line about these referees, instead blaming these utterly appalling incidents on sheer incompetence.
I just cannot understand how the incident with Firmino’s goal yesterday can be explained away as incompetence. It was the single worst act of cheating I’ve ever seen in 20-odd years of watching football. To put it in one line, Firmino’s legimitate and fairly-scored goal was purposely disallowed by a group of referees.
Surely they have to explain this one further?

{Ed001's Note - it seemed to me that they were trying to even up discrepancies. VAR had adversely affected Villa's season so they were deliberately and wilfully giving them decisions in their favour. There is no other explanation.}

Surely in the VAR picture Firminos knee is in front of his armpit and his knee is definitely behind the defenders. This is ruining the game!
The other point is why has the linesman flagged? Also how difficult is it when the same linesman are being used in the carabao cup as I'm guessing the linesman let the Arsenal one go midweek as that looked clearly on.
Ed, have we had many in our favour this year?

{Ed001's Note - it is unexplainable.}

I thought the same eds.
firstly I thought the advantage always went the the attacking player.
Secondly Just my view but the villa player looks ahead.
clearly VAR ref kept moving the line back until he was happy it wasn’t a goal.
Absolutely pointless bring var in if it’s not used for right reasons and then when they can use it for an easy offside call they do everything to back up the on field ref. And won’t over turn a decision yet again!

{Ed001's Note - the advantage should go to the attacker, which is why I couldn't understand why they took so long messing about with the Villa goal either. There were too many players in the way to see if he was offside, so what were they looking at? Just give the attacker the benefit of the doubt and move on.

Then you get Firmino, clearly onside until they jig around the lines to make it look offside. How can we trust their calibration or decisions now we know they will just move the lines around until it shows what they want it to show?}

I mentioned after the game against United the other week, VAR is being used to protect the ‘integrity’ of officials by backing up their calls regardless of how wrong they are. Sadly it isn’t being used to get to the right decision, which basically renders it useless.

Cheers.

But Ed001 and other Liverpool fans who are whining, you are all wrong.

First, the technology is great.
Second, it’s used by capable and upright officials.

For this incident, it was clear that Firmino’s body and the software as well as straight lines have conspired to make the officials look like they made a wrong call.

So Atkinson had to compel his reality into being by redrawing the lines while the PL Twitter had to come up with armpits.

Don’t blame the officials that reality didn’t agree with them. It’s not everyday that they have a mechanism to bend reality. So give them a break please.

=].

Just to add insult to injury, surely ARMpit is part of the ARM. Not sure about anyone else, but my should is outside my armpit, meaning that if his shoulder was onside, his armpit is irrelevant.

{Ed025's Note - it was a bad decision...in fact it was the pits.. :)

Spot on, boys. I mean, people saying Atkinson (VAR operator) is not biased vs LFC need to rethink that notion cos I am close to literally declaring that Martin Atkinson is biased against LFC, plain and simple. I mean, I have NEVER seen a VAR operator working double shifts to make a player look offside. That was blatant cheating and daylight robbery. It was so bad that the PL twitter account had to come up with some crock of Bobbie being offside by his armpit. As Andy Gray (who has NO love for LFC) asked, "I have never seen an armpit score a goal". VAR as implemented in PL, is rubbish and if we are using it to "even things out" (the very thing VAR was supposed to cut out to the bare minimum) then scrap it altogether.

Ed025 is here all week folks😂.

{Ed001's Note - don't say that, if they find out they will all stay away for a week!}

I see that Chris Kamara has come out this morning and said it was a deliberate act to stop Bobby scoring and it needs to be investigated.
Ed001 are you really Chris Kamara? :)

{Ed001's Note - he just pretends to be me when he is on TV.}

12.) 03 Nov 2019
03 Nov 2019 13:29:46
I don't know what Kamara is on about there, Polecat BUT it is very strange for a ref or VAR operator to overtly "make it up as he went along" on that decision and working hard to make himself look right whereas everyone even the Villa fans, knew he was an emperor with no clothes.

It was Atkinson look at his history with Liverpool.

Ed001 and fellow Reds, if proven that the VAR lines were doctored and it was done deliberately, do you think the FA will do something about it, maybe apologize to Liverpool or suspend Martin Atkinson or anything like that?
Also, I saw an analysis that Mane may have dived for his yellow card for simulation, but there was indeed contact. With his yellow cards count now accumulating, could we appeal that the card is rescinded?

{Ed001's Note - the FA won't do anything, why would they? It is just like all the players caught breaking drugs rules, swept under the carpet as it is bad for the game's image.

We can't appeal.}

What happened to sky TVs offside camera system (which was pretty good) , have they agreed to scrap it so as not to undermine the integrity 😂 of VAR?

I was thinking that too, surely there's technology available to get a panoramic view to see the line much clearer than that angle that they've used to show the decision. i've often seen offside calls being analysed by pundits where they've had the ability to view the line directly across. How don't VAR have the use of this much more accurate view?
