Reports saying we’re discussing the possibility of playing one team in the carabao cup on the same day the other is in Qatar playing the club World Cup! Can that be done?

I assume first team squad go to Qatar and the rest play villa. I know we have little option, but I’d love us the chance to rest a few in one of the club World Cup games, maybe like mane bobby Elliot one game, origi salah and Brewster the other. id like to see Brewster and Elliot playing with our quality to see what they can bring.

{Ed002's Note - Of course it can be done. You are making this a far bigger issue than it is. The club needs to suck it up, have the club secretary work with the authorities in England and satisfy sponsors to compete elsewhere.}

Spot on, Ed02. I don't see a prob with it cos the kids for the most part, were going to be playing in it anyway so nothing changes, IMO. N btw, playing these multiple comps. is the byproduct of being successful and winning trophies esp. Ol' Big Ears so as Ed02 said, suck it up and move on.

ed002 so what about the manager does he manage one game then fly over to manage the other game next day with a 7 hour flight in between. Ed my be you can tell another team that has to play 2 competitive game in less the 24 Hours. if not so why do we move league games for FA cups games play one Saturday one sunday all the clubs can suck it up. As for playing the kids there has been a good mix on youth and experience just playing all the kids we will go out so what is the point this is a quarter final now and am sure Klopp would be putting a stronger team in to it if not for the club world cup.

{Ed002's Note - If Klopp is such a flake that he is not up to it, the assistant manager or one of the authorised coaches can do one game. Back in the 60’s all Division 1 sides would play back to back fixtures at Christmas.

I can’t see us splitting the squad and I saw the report too, from the daily mirror, need we say anymore about this crappy tabloid!

Whilst the trip to Qatar really is an unwanted disruption, the one positive is that it will be warm which could benefit the players?

We’ll certainly have a better idea how all of this effects club come mid to end jan, after all, it was this period where we lost our grip last season.

Like I say, maybe the warm weather will benefit the players.

If I had to choose which game to win I would prefer the CWC over the Carabou. Just my opinion and 2 games to get another trophy. Decent looking 🏆 also lol.

Personally I think we should just withdraw from the Carabao cup. It sounds as if the PL are being pretty inflexible on fixture moves from what I've read today and I guess we can't withdraw from the CWC without getting slapped by FIFA.

CWC above the energy drink cup any day!
U only get to play the CwC if u win the UCL so why would u ignore that competition? Plus we have never won it before.
The league cup is always there to be won every season.

We aren't living in the 1960's anymore, the game has moved on massively.

Why should we have to send a team of kids to be slaughtered at Villa Park? and believe me that's what will happen. the authorities knew when the quarter finals and the world club championship would be and decided to do nothing, or did they not expect the European champions to be able to navigate a couple of rounds of the carabao? i'd rather see us wait it out till January and play it then when we would be able to send a team with a fighting chance to villa park with the likes of Lovren, Shaquiri hopefully being able to be added to a squad like d other night.

The authorities have changed fixtures before when teams have been partaking in the Club World Cup - why have they not done the same this year when they knew we would be competing in the Club World Cup? Is this 'winter break' a mitigating factor in this, or are the authorities just incompetent?

I take your point about teams playing back to back games in the 60's Ed but, with all due respect, this isn't the 60's and there really should be more thought and organization from the authorities - isn't that why they exist, in order to prepare for and avoid problems such as these? Just seems to be very amateurish from the authorities and, if Liverpool do as you suggest (suck it up), means us sending entire squad of kiddies to Villa Park - likely ending in defeat, whilst the senior squad jet off to Qatar. Doesn't quite seem fair - other footballing authorities in other countries seem able to avoid such problems, why do the English ones struggle so.

{Ed002's Note - Which authorities are you talking about? In the history of the competition only three English sides have completed in it. You need to get over the obsession that Liverpool are being hard done by - the club has more than enough players to play both games - just suck it up and move on.}
